Pretty badass, the guy played QB in college and was drafted as a WR in the pros. And in the first round I believe, that's almost unheard of.
And he's white! Eric Crouch couldn't crack the first round as WR

I watched the YouTube clip of him speaking at the Little Rock Touchdown Club and he briefly touched on his cocaine arrest back in '08. Not bashing Jones at all - easily in my top five as far SEC quarterbacks go and he seems like a super chill dude. I'm sure some on here were in Fayetteville during his era and I've always heard the talk about him partying his dick off. Just wondering if anyone has a story or two on the subject
He was an idiot who threw away a promising NFL career to get high.
What a party story.

Yet you still went 4.3 and 250 lbs. Faking idiot.
You said I added 30 pounds. I was 8 pounds and 7 hundreths of a second over a stat that I hadn't looked at in 5+ years.
Drop an anvil on your face repeatedly until you can no longer do so.

He threw away millions of nfl dollars to snort cocaine off his dashboard. He's a dumbass.

He didn't say he was a top 5 or top 10 QB in SEC history. He said he ranked that high in his list of favorite QB's. Also 4.37 is a 4.3. When someone says 4.3 it doesn't mean 4.30 even.

"Easily in my top 5 as far as SEC quarterbacks go"
You are right he didn't say what you said he said.

Matt Jones was awesome. If he went to a power program he could have lead a team to a National Title

I hate that this thread is being shat all over as I was interesting in hearing some stories as well.

Post less. This may be one of the dumbest statements I have ever seen on the rant. Congrats

Negative. Not a leader type, not a committed worker that would motivate the guys around him.
Everyone else that recruited him wanted him as a WR, only Nutt gave him the chance to play QB, and Jones' crazy ability to improvise and make plays saved the bacon many, many, many times. The team got put into many of those comeback and multiple OT situations by Jones not being focused until it got to those pressure situations or needing to make a miraculous comeback.
Unfortunately I don't have any party stories of the guy. I worked in a club in town during that time so I wasn't on Dickson too much.

Enh we had an outbreak of d-baggery. Its Serra so its expected. He can't be humorously over the top like Phat Phil so he just settles for being loathsome.
When I went back to work on a second degree I had a class with Matt and he was a super laid back guy. I'm not saying, mind you, that we were best friends or anything. To be honest he was so chilled out all the time that it took me a few weeks to realize just who he was.
One story I've heard is that he slept through most of the tornado that destroyed his parent's home. No one, and I mean no one, that ever met Matt doubts the story. He was just that inhumanly mellow.
If you take a look at some of his highlight reels the most impressive thing is he doesn't seem to be trying very hard most of the time. No wonder he took lots of cocaine, he probably needed it to stay awake. I didn't know him well enough to party with him, but he'd probably be a great guy to have a beer with.

Easily Top 5 sec qb?

What are your degrees in?
I remember watching the Miracle on Markham I as a kid with my grandpa. One of the few times I ever heard him use curse words. "Holy shite."
