Snyder had a better defense in 2012 than Chavis did in 2013.
The fact that Snyder's BEST defense is only slightly better than Chavis' WORST defense says quite a bit about how big of an upgrade Chief is.

Youre missing the most important thing... lock down man to man corners and physical hard hitting safeties all of which a&m doesnt have.
Corner is still a weak point. I think our safeties will be quite a bit better, though.

OK, here you go:
Again, averages of the entire season hide game by game trends. I don't give a shite that Chavis shut out Western Kentucky. Here's what it looks like if you plot the data game by game for 2014. I don't care enough about this to do the rest of Chavis's seasons, but I'd be willing to bet they all have a similar linear fit. In the two most important defensive statistics, Chavis gets worse with less TOP.

Steele may end up a huge failure, but that won't stop me from thinking a change might have been the best if Brick Haley was going to stay
But but but all the Longhorns here in Austin try to convince me they stole Brick from LSU.

Zach Mettenberger, Jeremy Hill, Odell Beckham Jr, Jarvis Landry, Trai Turner all started in the NFL last year and did exceptionally well. I dont see how that talent in any way shape or form reminds you of Ole Miss's offense last year
What does NFL performance have to do with any of it? LSU's offense in 2013 was good, not great.

LSU's defense were year in and year out the strength of the team during Chavis's tenure. Y'all are delusional.

Your response to what was quoted is the most head-scratching thing I've seen in awhile. He's talking about the impact of TOP on points and yards and you're talking about . . . well I'm not really sure what you are talking about. Bizarre.

I know they don't teach a lot of math in Louisiana but there is a thing called logarithms that can be used to make sense of a chart that is widely scattered.

A wise old man once gave me some great advice. It was "don't hate the playa, hate the game."
I'm sorry facts cause you angst.

A math burn! ZING!
Don't be so obtuse. This isn't your AREA of expertise. The SEC is the best circumference in the nation. I think if you are looking at the data correctly this could be a SINE of things to come. Parabola.

Frankly, I'd go with the pat answer first and foremost: yes, Chavis (and pretty much any DC) needs the offense to cooperate with his defensive scheme. But the question isn't what Chavis needs, it's what TAMU needs. Before we worry about meshing the two, TAMU needs someone to impose discipline on their defensive corp and institute a playbook that takes advantage of the sorts of players TAMU has on D right now. Their defense has frequently looked pretty lost over the last three season (can't attest to anything before that) because their ability to read the offenses and get to their assignments seemed virtually nil. Whether that's because they weren't learning or because they weren't disciplined, I couldn't say, but those two are Chavis' job in his first couple seasons. After that, once he has recruits he picked, then they'll have to have serious discussions about how they mesh with TAMU's wide-open offense.

I thought that was a joke. Do they not know what linear regression is?

Chavis moved on to greener pastures and an offense with a pulse.
Better town, better stadium/facilities, and a team with greater potential.

Good for him. He might have to move again in two years if he doesn't fix the shite sandwich he's inheriting.
