Ole Miss fans are still the only I've heard reference this site. You need to find some more boards to frequent.
We are y'all's only rival, so that's one reason. Secondly, the handful of times I've been there, I questioned humanity...and that's unbiased because our Scout board isn't far behind Elitedawgs. I would cry if Scout ever became free. Both those boards need a nuke dropped on them.

Actually Nov. 9th, 1985 is the 30th anniversary of UGA beating #1 UF 24-3 to knock them outta 1st place...
Right...they were #1 for a week, so I guess it would have been the Monday before that the rankings came out.

That's a pretty big gap between LSU and the #2 all time SEC football team.
And a 20-9 head-to-head advantage in favor of the Vols is also a pretty big gap.

Meh, the record is even since we started letting the black dudes play.

Edit: Likely I guess. I don't see OSU dropping if they win their games but FSU did drop to 4th at one point last year
Only thing that might drop you is a lack of marquee match-ups. Your schedule is Charmin soft this year.

You sure have a disagreeable way of agreeing with people.

You must be young....where Florida is today is where they typically are. I'm guessing SOS and CUM account for 40 of those weeks. They are gone. And they ain't coming back.
Shhhh! They see themselves as a traditional powerhouse, not a Johnny-come-lately flash in the pan.

That's for sure. OSU needs to win a lot of their games by 14+ this year to keep their ranking.
The iron sharpens iron thing is kind of true, but I think you only need a couple of games a year to get there

Yeah, and I bet you were alive during the 60s and 70s when Tennessee supposedly "owned" Florida

Maybe, but playing the easiest schedule among all playoff teams didn't hurt you guys getting in, and you certainly seemed healthier than everyone else. *shrug*

To be fair, UT only "owned" Florida prior to 1955 (when UT won their first 10 match-ups and 11 of their first 12. Prior to 1985, UT led the series 13-5. Since then, UF has won 20 out of 26 games.

You mean aside from us losing our starting QB twice?

I mean...this is just wrong. Even if they didn't have as many injuries elsewhere, getting down to your third string QB is pretty unlucky. To still win the championship is nothing short of amazing.

And yet we've won more crystal footballs than mighty Tennessee.

They had to play top 5 Michigan State on the road with their backup qb and then top 15 Wisconsin at a neutral site with a their third-string qb to get in.
Edit: In fact, their sos before the bowls was better than both FSU and Oregon: https://www.colleyrankings.com/foot2014/rankings/rank16.html

It's also worth noting that one reason recent success programs can have high numbers is because there are more polls per season now.
Back in the day there were like 11-12 polls per year, now there are a good 15-16.
The extra games, bye weeks, etc. you get more polls per season.

When we fell from being #1, we'd just won our game 55-20 and had won 18 consecutive games.
What else can you do?
P.S. We'd also beaten the #1 team in the nation the week before.

State was a win over Alabama from being in the top six all time in the SEC. That's surprising.
