Tried them about 3 times and it's Ok, but not nearly as good as I expected it to be.
Braum's would be my pick, the cheese on their burgers is great.
Also Whitt's BBQ, nearest 1 is almost 200 miles,so when I get near one, I run buy and buy a shitload of pulled pork and a couple slabs of ribs to go in the freezer,it doesn't last long if I am at home much.

I think it all depends on the location you visited. A lot of chain food places vary depending on location including the ones that aren't fast food. I ate at a Giordano's somewhere in Chicago that was a ripoff, but I had eaten at one north of Chicago that was tGOAT.
I also haven't eaten Taco Johns in about ten years, so they could have gone down in quality since then. Or maybe my memory was better than the actual food

Bojangles had the best biscuits. We haven't had one here in years.

But real answer, there's a Midwestern burger chain called Culver's that I've always loved. There's a couple in Tennesse, closest one to Birmingham is in Murfreesboro

Honestly I would take any chain restraunt that isn't fricking MCDs, Burger King, Wendys, Taco Bell, or Pizza Hut. We have NONE.

I'm in Baton Rouge, we've got chains to spare.
I just wish some of those were slightly more conveniently located to my house, namely Chik-fil-a & Dairy Queen.

I wish we had Publix grocery stores in Lexington. Their deli section makes the best subs I've ever had and their chicken wings are excellent, too. They have a great selection.
