It's not even dumb by the numbers. It's self destructive to the conservative message and by extension the Republicans. Not only are you saying that people who vote Democrat are moochers who just want to be lazy and get free stuff. It's also showing exactly what they think of poor folks. The mean spirited attitude of the right toward poor people strikes a nerve with me.

frick that. There is no reason to be poor in this country or in Europe if you work hard enough. My boss grew up in scotland and was homeless at 16 years old because his alcoholic mother got them evicted because she drank the rent money (largely provided by my boss and his brother.)
He started working in a warehouse 24 years ago and is now a senior vice president living in the US with a great family and responsibility for North and South America. Best boss I ever had.
Dont tell me you cant make your way up in at least the western world. 3rd countries I get it. Thats different.

Statistically, people who want "free shite" don't vote in national elections in a large enough number to make a difference. Id be willing to bet less than 20% of those who fall under your category are even registered to vote.
You're pretty naive if you actually believe this.

You're one of the rare "liberals" on this board that are tolerable.

Bad luck happens to people in any country. I've seen my share of people that work hard and are still poor. A lady who works two jobs with a bad back to keep the bills payed and the basic healthcare she needs. She still needs a little help because her skill set is limited and she can't exactly go to school because she has to keep working 60+ hours to live.
Another lady I worked with in my slumming between college days had a decent life going. Then her alcoholic husband beat her arse and left her to raise the three kids and only sometimes payed child support. The point is, there are real people who work hard and sometimes need a little help. The meme of the right is that they are all just lacking the moral fortitude to work.
There are free-riders. The welfare queen meme that Reagan started. There are also a lot of people who've had some shite luck or lack the education and skills they need to get much farther. The conservative types who latch on to the all poors are lazy and want handouts are the ones who associate welfare with black folks.
Then you decide poor people vote Democrat because they want free stuff when you've spent years telling them they are lazy and want handouts. I wonder why they aren't more receptive to your message?

Disagree. That's the Left's meme of Right's perception.

It's certainly a generalization. I don't think guys like 808, 3nout, RodgerTheSrubber, or even you V&S think that way. I do think there are a fair number of people on the right who think that way though.
There are a fair number on the left who think of all right wingers as just hating the poor and they won't listen to the good ideas the right does have.

Oh I think that poors should be processed into food for other poors.

The Clintons are horrible people. I voted for Edwin Edwards over David Duke but think Hillary and Bill are worse human beings than Edwards, if that's possible.

Hook is to shiny, I'm as conservative as they come, shocking because of my background, and I agree not all people getting assistance are lazy good for nothing slugs, but the fraud and corruption need to be dealt with and if that means shutting down the whole shooting match and starting over then so be it.

I'm a strong supporter of a strong welfare system, and I agree. That and the structure of the program that penalizes people when they take positive steps. All of a sudden they may too much for program A and now have less resources because they got out and got a job or got a meager raise at the job they have.
The "trap" effect really makes our system way more ineffective than needed. Add that to the alphabet soup of agencies and programs, there's a lot of leaky buckets to pass the funds through. Then no oversight when it gets to the ground.
One program, one administration for the whole damn safety net would be a great first step.

Oil will be below $2.00 a barrel by next year with steel and agricultural exports booming not a very good position for Texas tea party...
Is it time to invade Mexico and Brazil we would have been better off doing that 25 years ago over this other nonsense.

I'd vote for Hillary because the GOP will probably give us someone like Jeb. If that happens, Hillary all the way.
Posted on 3/28/15 at 1:49 pm to Landmass
I would never vote for her. I hate the Dems Tea Party guy Scott Walker is my guy. His story gets me the way he can stand up for the little guy,
Posted on 3/28/15 at 1:49 pm to wmr
I wouldn't vote for Hillary if she was facing Mao Zedong.
