Honestly I think the traumatic shock from little bro taking Chavis galvanized the LSU fanbase like never before. All of a sudden "negatigers" no longer are calling for the failure of Les, because if he fails in the Steele era that is partially our doing.

You lost me here.

The playcalling was shaky all year with Spavital. He'd been roundly criticized for RB rotations that made little sense, and getting cute in crucial situations (i.e., our 4th down play against Mizzou, and our near-safety at the end of the Auburn game).

I'm a bit confused by Aggie arguements in here. So the consensus is that all A&M needs is a top 70 or so defense to be competive with the rest of the Divison?

ETA: WCA just kinda answered my question. Carry on.

I stopped bolding because I felt like it...

there's a lotta records in there that he holds

would you like to see what Jamarcus and Flynn did as well?

well you comment on "us both knowing that won't happen" regarding the LSU position. SO I assumed you followed things closely. I have kept up with recruiting for aggy, as yall are a western opponent and I like to stay informed on the competition. It's a hobby.

As I've said a few times now, it'll come. I just don't think you'll see Chavis at LSU type success until you get more of those players on the team.

EXACTLY

Yall have NO CLUE what we expect from Chavis. No clue.

The biggest melt of the year isn't Steele failing (lets be honest a monkey could do his job), or Chavis failing. It will be the LSU fan melt about us NOT melting when Chavis produces a top 63 defense and we are super happy about it.

Admittedly I haven't read this whole thread, but if we can get a defense that pushes 40, I think we will be pretty fricking good in most cases

2016 is when I hope we can truly contend. I think most of our fanbase is looking at that year as a judgment year.

The consensus is that a marginal improvement on the defensive side of the ball should make us competitive, yes.

No one is saying we'll win the West

No, we need a top 40/50 defense and we won't get that far in a year. So personally I don't expect A&M to challenge for the division next year.

In 2016 you better watch your butts.

What Chavis wants and what Chavis gets are two different things. Chavis also wants to not pay LSU their money, and we might have to do that if the judge says so.

Has a team ever won the Divison with a defense that ranked that low?

Chavis came to A&M knowing what type of offense we run, and obviously believes even with a quicker pace, he can improve us on that side of the ball.

Again, we don't need a stonewall defense. It's not possible in today's game when combined with the uptempo offense we favor.

But a defense like Chavis' which is predicated upon dictating the action will be a great asset.

I fully expect our offense to slow down next year as far as pace. The staff has alluded to as much and the Christensen hire is telling as well. It's still going to be a hurry up but I don't think we will be helter skelter trying to run 100 plays every game

We already slowed it down some last year by the end of the year

Chavis came to A&M so that he could be paid more to do less. Deal with it.
