Good? Bad?
I think it's ridiculous.

What did two sixth graders do to get added to Rivals so early? Thornton showed off "great explosiveness and surprisingly good body control for a kid his size and age," according to the Rivals write-up. Bryden is a quarterback with a "big arm" and is "incredibly composed and very polished."

Grown men ogling sixth graders's physiques and athletic ability? What could go wrong?

This is way too creepy. I hope these kids don't have Facebook or Twitter. The fanatics will be out of control.

Jesus Christ this is overkill. If bet 25% of my 6th grade football team ended up playing through varsity. And the best players from that team weren't the best players on varsity, just the first to develop.

Creepy, irresponsible, misguided and a slippery slope.

That is the problem when there is such a large financial motive to gain all this info- there is only so much data to sell which means a cap on earnings. So going younger is a way to push the bar and bottom line.
Personally I would have guessed more international player information but that would take more resources than digging in Pee Wee football.

Bryden, whose favorite color is camouflage has shown great awareness on and off the field. While juggling the weight of Dr. Seuss books, you can also find him building Iron Man out of Legos. He's shown great ability to grow up and hit a huge growth spurt, being that his favorite food is macaroni. Look for him to commit next week after he hits puberty.

My main issue is that it's pointless. It's pretty hard to tell if a kid's going to be a great athlete in 9th/10th grade much less 6th grade. At that age it's literally impossible to tell if a kid's going to be 5'6, 6'5, slow, fast, etc. These kids might completely lose interest in sports in two years, you just never know

The most recent addition to the rivals database. They are going even younger.

Hopefully he crawls towards the LSU bottle.

Rivals is getting desperate. This is pathetic.

After an 11 year NFL career, Brent Williams set his sights on guiding his children through the process of recruiting. While going through his sons' respective recruiting journeys, he learned some valuable lessons. In fact, he learned so much he wrote two books (Recruit My Son! & Recruit My Kid!) to educate others. Williams tours the country speaking to student-athletes and their parents about recruiting and has become one of the most important voices in recruiting circles when it comes to a realistic look and approach to the recruiting process. "I have been blessed with three gifted athletes, actually four if you count my godson," Williams said. "It's been enjoyable watching them go through the recruiting process and each has had a different experience with it, which I think allows me to give different perspectives on the process." Brent Williams spent 11 years in the NFL. Williams, who played with the New England Patriots, Seattle Seahawks and New York Jets after a successful career at Toledo, has provided some impressive bloodlines. His oldest son Brennan Willliams attended North Carolina, and is now playing in the NFL with the Houston Texans. His second son Camren Williams and godson Armani Reeves are juniors at Ohio State. Lastly, his daughter Jaylen Willaims will play basketball at Penn State next year. What's next for Williams is finding the next generation of great football players through his NextGen All-America Camp Series, which focuses exclusively on middle school football players. This focus was due to the first lesson Brent learned in recruiting -- recruiting starts EARLY! "Most think about recruiting when their kids are in high school, but colleges are starting to identify prospects earlier and earlier", Williams said. "The number of major programs that have extended scholarship offers to 7th and 8th grade kids is increasing every year." The NextGen Camps are exposure events for the top 6th, 7th and 8th graders in the country. The inaugural Camp Tour will hold events in Massachusetts, New Jersey, Virginia, North Carolina, Florida, Ohio, Georgia, and Texas. Discussions are also in the works for showcases in Pennsylvania, New York, Michigan and California. When asked why, Williams simply stated, "I know the doors that my scholarship opened for me, both athletically and academically (professionally) -- and I want to help the next generation of student-athletes reach their dreams of playing college football. Most importantly, getting an education so that they can have success off the field." Rivals.com has exclusive media rights to the information and data at each camp and the best of the best will get a Rivals.com profile and the exposure that brings with it. "This is the direction college football is taking us and we have to follow suit in our coverage," said Rivals.com National Recruiting Director Mike Farrell. "There is no more rarity when it comes to offers in 7th and 8th grade to players like Chris Leak and David Sills. We currently have 25 prospects with major offers in the 2018 class that we know of, and 'that we know of' is the key here. With verbal offers, there could be many more and there is no doubt that football recruiting is closing in on basketball recruiting where scouting is done on the 7th and 8th grade level and earlier. I've known Brent for a long time now and we've have many, many recruiting discussions over the years. He's a good, honest man and I can't think of anyone better to begin discovering and educating the young stars of tomorrow." For more information, go to www.nextgena
