I agree with this one.
I only read the first page of responses, so if someone already mentioned, oh well.
Natchitoches, LA is not close to Baton Rouge, but is a cool little town. Great romantic weekend spot. It's the town where Steel Magnolias was filmed, and you can even stay in the main home where the movie was filmed since it is now a B&B. The Christmas lights festival is great, but really crowded. Go to Lasione's and eat some Natchitoches meat pies.

The only ones from Alabama that are must visits are Fairhope/Point Clear, Mentone/Little River Canyon, Orange Beach, and Huntsville.
Fairhope - Just a really neat town on Mobile Bay with good restaurants, antique shops, arts, golf, etc
Orange Beach - Not as nice as Destin/30-A but a solid beach town and a lot of fun during the summer. Excellent place if you own a boat.
Little River Canyon - Very pretty area with impressive views along the rim of the canyon.
Huntsville - Mostly for the Space and Rocket Center which has some really cool exhibits and ride simulators.

Bardstown, KY is pretty awesome. Bourbon festival right in the middle of the KY bourbon trail distilleries
When we don't have a foot of snow on the ground y'all should come on up and enjoy.

Cashiers NC isn't exactly SEC, but it's really close.

the Mrs and I went to a tobacco festival in Bloomfield before the '91 LSU-Kentucky football game. That was a hoot.

It's a line from a commercial. Never mind.
Congrats on the yearly nookie.

Meh. It's fine for a quick stop but we stayed for too long. It's like a tiny St. Augustine without the history. Just shops and some food.
Not really the mountains either.

Were you in Helen for Oktoberfest? That's the best time to go. Other than that it's full of Yankee tourists.

It wasn't crowded at all really. Just not a lot to do. Most of the folks I talked to were from within 15 miles away just coming to tube with their mee maw.

Well it's definitely no Piegon Forge. Definitely a weekend at most kinda trip.

Not a Pigeon Forge fan either.
Don't get me started on the yuck that is that Yankee/hillbilly infested area including Gatlinburg.
I have no idea why folks want to go there.
I don't like Destin either by the way.

The only reason I ever visit PF/Gatlinburg/Cherokee is bc of proximity to GSMNP.
I find the tennessee side very trashy... And now I regret even comparing them to Helen

The NC side is the bomb. NC hillbillies > TN hillbillies

check out St. Francisville.
Is the Bluffs still open down there? Played that course a few times with some buddies. Then I heard it went under. Did anyone come in to rescue it?

Ferguson, Mo
College Park, Ga
Ybor City, Fl
back when they actually rolled cigars in Ybor City it would have been worth seeing, now they try to cash in on a 'little havana' nuance.
