If you could be guaranteed an 80 year lifespan, would you take it?

Sort of a "deal or no deal" type of thing. Would you take the 80 years, or gamble on healthy life choices and advances in medicine? For reference, the average male lifespan in the US is currently 77.5 years and female is about 82.2 years. Estimates are by 2050 the average lifespan will be around 87 for the general population and 85 for men.
Also, because it's always race week round these parts, if you remove African American and Hispanic males from the calculation the average male lifespan jumps to about 82 years.

Usually only if you have chronic hypertension, diabetes or hyperlipidemia or have a history of smoking. If you managed to avoid the big three, and don't get an unlucky genetic draw with regards to cancer, you have a very high probability of being active and relatively healthy at 80.
Our perception is often skewed because most of the time when we talk about people 80+, it is because they died, are about to die or are becoming senile. Healthy old people just don't get talked about much.

Yes, you are perfectly healthy and active and then die suddenly and pain free at 80.

This. One of my boyfriends grandmothers is 87. She's still mentally sharp as frick. Retired teacher and still volunteers at a museum.
