quote:
As much as I hate to say it, because I love STL. It is a city on the decline, and recent events aren't helping the reputation of the city as a whole.
Most people I know assume its a lot like Detroit, and in some ways it is. Small exception being that Detroit can actually keep a shitty football team around.
It is and it isn't (in the decline).
Ultimately this entire country is in the decline, it's just more visible in certain areas.
More cool breweries are popping up everyday.
More cool restaurants.
Lots of areas are flourishing.
The Grove is renovating itself, lots of new development.
Your old spot, Cottleville is thriving.
Clayton is Clayton.
Central West End is popping.
Could go on.
The area isn't quite on the decline like some like to say.
Detroit is worse than St. Louis, plus it's in the rust belt, they just have a crazy owner willing to spend.
And St. Louis has nothing to do with the team leaving. The fans support is decent enough that a move isn't warranted, it's all about a stadium and an owner who wants to tap into the LA market.

And people have memories like gold fish.
The stuff that happened in Ferguson will be gone from the memory bank in no time.
It's the yearly 'top crime lists' that circle the internet that F StL.
I believe we're the only city that doesn't take the surrounding suburbs into the data.
