I don't play but my 12 yr old son has both. Ps4 here and Xbox at his dad's.
He prefers ps4 BC that's what all of his friends play and for no other reason. So, I'd say whatever your friends play is the answer. This might be the answer for 12 yr olds though.

My 12 yr old wanted the PS4 fpr the same reason. I must say having GTA V on the PS3 and now the PS4 it is quite a difference. It runs flawless plus you can transfer your online progress....
