I know right. Mountains, beaches, top ten metro area, lakes, warm weather, etc.....effing terrible!

In all seriousness, Ohio gets a bad rap because the cities, excluding Columbus, are complete dumps, eastern Ohio is a white trash kingdom, the weather is shitty, especially downwind of Lake Erie. But hey, there is some beautiful farmland through the center of the state, and Lake Erie can be kinda ok in the summer I guess?

What makes Ohio "THE" work place destination of choice choice for so many displaced Southerners looking to make it?

Have lived in both, currently live in Ohio. Georgia's better and it isn't even close. Every state has its shitholes, but few have them at the level of places like Youngstown, Dayton, Canton, etc... Cleveland has gotten better with the casino and skywalks downtown, but the state as a whole has been in a state of depression since the steel mills started closing. Youngstown, Cleveland, Toledo, Akron, Dayton, Canton, and Cincinnati are all well below their peak population for a reason.
