Atlanta traffic is awful
I could not do it. I have friends there that schedule their lives around commute times.

New Orleans is a lot of fun and has a lot of great things, but it sucks arse as a city. If that wasn't true, then New Orleans would win hands down. But it is true, so I have to go with Atlanta.

New Orleans for culture, global tourism, history, food, parades, ghettos, crime, museums, and distinction.
Atlanta for traffic, crime, huge ghetto, tall buildings, auto theft, suburbs, traffic, upscale clubs, transplants, college student mecca, Steelers fans, rapid transit, mega airport, 14 lane freeways, traffic.

I live in Atlanta and have spent a large amount of time in New Orleans. Atlanta has the better economy/more jobs, and overall better quality of life.
From the pure food/culture/fun stuff to do side, New Orleans wins and it isn't close. Atlanta truly is a transplant city.

New Orleans.
New Orleans is a shite hole with lots of redeeming characteristics like charming old neighborhoods, fun festivals, an incredible home-grown music scene, ect.
Atlanta is just a shite hole.

You have either:
1)never been to atlanta
2)only been to the areas surrounding the georgia dome in atlanta
Charming old neighborhoods? Uhhhh yeah ATL has a ton of them, and almost certainly has more upscale, expensive old neighborhoods than NO. Festivals? Yeah, there's one abotu every weekend. No we dont' have mardi gras, but we do have "fun festivals". Music? Uhh yeah we've had some good ones come through here as well.

I have been to Atlanta many many times. It is the worst large city in the South, and if it were not for the Rustbelt, it would be the worst large city (over 1 million people) in the country.
New Orleans is a destination.
Atlanta is where you change planes for your connecting flight to your destination.

Do you consider Florida to be in the south?

ehh...sorta. I guess Jacksonville would qualify. I've never been there, so I can't really judge.
