Why so sensitive? The fricking place smells bad. It's ok. No biggie.
You are just used to it.
You are just used to it.

The FQ does stink. But to say an entire city stinks is ignorant.
I haven't lived in NOLA or anywhere in LA for 20 years. I already said that ya dingleberry.

Yeah, but why so mad?
One can become accustomed to a familiar odor and not be offended by it, time notwithstanding. It's science and stuff, no big deal.

Amari Cooper: "No disrespect to the place, but I don't really like New Orleans." Says too much going on, and it smells bad.
No truer words have ever been spoken.

you just made this up and you know it. And you have to continually smell something in order to become accustomed to it. I've been in Nashville 20 years, and therefore do not smell New Orleans. I've never become accustomed to the smell of Bourbon Street. It's horrid, especially in the summer.

Or anyone who disagrees with him. We've had representation from a number of SEC schools in this thread. Mostly LSU fans though, true.

This.
And it portrays a certain element here very accurately.

anyways,
Perhaps, and yet you keep demonstrating your sensitivity with respect to the fact that New Orleans smells bad. Therefore, it is relevant within the framework of this discussion.

Yeah, but you apparently DID, in fact, continually smell New Orleans for an extended period of time at some point in your life. Therein lies your familiarity that breeds the lack of offense you take to the funky smell that is New Orleans.

I am not sensitive to any criticisms of New Orleans as the majority of them are spot on. The smell and crime rate being 2 that I agree with. All I've said is that the entire city of New Orleans doesn't stink.

Considering I know you to be wrong in this specific example, I'll sleep great.

No I didn't, as I didn't live near the FQ. Metairie smells like any other suburb. I've been exposed to the smell of New Orleans about as much as anyone who has visited the FQ on an annual basis.

Lots of people from Lafayette think New Orleans is a shithole.
Posted on 12/28/14 at 2:28 pm to northalabamacracker
Well that's an exception. Lots of folks from Lafayette hate everything except Lafayette. I won't argue that it's not a shithole. The crime alone is reason enough not to want to live there. Post Katrina NOLA made things even worse. But not asll of NOLA is a shithole, is my point. My side of town was actually nice and had very little crime.

Your side of town? Metairie aint NOLA breaux. And if you havent lived here in over 20 years, how fricking old are you?

Yea, the city sucks so bad the NFL has had its premier game, the Super Bowl, a record 11 times there. It is in the loop for the NCG every 4 yrs. N.O. has been cited by Travel & Leisure 3 times in the past decade for being one of the top designation tourist cities in the country. Between Jazz Fest, the French Quarter Fest, N.Y.Eve celebrations, etc etc etc, the city's tourism does not come close to depending on drunk college football fans for anything, let alone survivial. I am glad you all feel this way. Stay far far far away. It makes the Quarter, Frenchmen's St, the River Walk, Magazine St, UpTown all that much more enjoyable for us natives.
