I have a question that is a bit off-topic, but this thread reminded me of it.
Why did LSU and Tulane stop playing each other every year? Wasn't that a pretty long-lived rivalry between the two schools?

Tulane built a 30,000 seat stadium and wanted LSU to play there every other year instead of in the dome.

Simple as that? Silly of Tulane I think. I'm sure they lose out on not playing the game more than LSU.

Yeah they need it way more. Not really any skin off our back.

Not really, Tulane just wanted to keep playing LSU in a home-and-away series format, but they couldn't guarantee LSU enough of a payout to make it a better option than playing Big 5 (or BCS at the time) teams in home-and-away series.
LSU offered up some compromise proposals, playing 2-1 games at Tiger Stadium and the Dome, but Tulane thought of itself as an equal partner in the deal and refused anything but an equal split.
All of this came about long before Tulane was even considering rebuilding a home stadium. We're talking mid-90s, 20 years before Yulman.

I don't see why we can't drop a sunbelt team from the schedule and play Tulane every year.

I think we do owe them a game in NOLA, so any talks of us playing again would have to start there. LSU doesn't want to give up non-conference home games, however unappealing the opponent is.

When you go like 47-2-1 against someone over a 50 year period it kind of takes the luster off a rivalry

Because ALL of the Sun Belt teams would play at Tiger Stadium every year and not demand return trips like Tulane was doing.
Look, don't get me wrong, I grew up, literally, in the shadow of Tulane Stadium. I miss that rivalry, and I wish money wouldn't be an issue between the schools for making it work, but I can kind of see the LSU POV here. It just doesn't pay to play Tulane on the road every other year.

Am I to conclude there was a 17 year skip between games?

Per the terms of the settlement, I can neither confirm nor deny the assertion you are making.
However, our legal team can confirm that Texas A&M hasn't beaten LSU in 20 years.

If Tulane would be a good bitch like Reveille once was and come to our house each and every year, then I'm sure we could make that happen.
Sadly, we have to dish out a little tough love to Tulane with the silent treatment.
They'll get the memo eventually just like Aggy did and come back begging to play us on our terms.
It's not easy being the master and some say you can't teach an old dog new tricks but I think LSU has more than demonstrated that we can get an old dog to lay down and roll over.

Probably because we won 6 in a row and LSU was scared to play us. So they dropped the series.

I can see where that's got a lot to do with the Ags currently losing 4 in a row.

Texas A&M won 5 in a row against LSU 25 years ago. Congratulations on beating a 2-9 LSU team 20+ years ago. Moral victory!
Good job little brothers Aggies!!!!!

That's interesting. Who was it y'all won 6 in a row over, though?
