Was Big 12 football better than the SEC?

Seems both Texas A&M and Missouri are having more success in the SEC than they did in the Big 12.
I understand that the SEC has won numerous national championships, but over the years the conference has been very top heavy and below average in the middle and bottom.
If Missouri wins on Saturday, the Big 12 could have two teams in the CFB playoff and the SEC completely shutout and on the heels of this past weekends embarrassing losses to the ACC much of the SEC's luster will be gone.
It wouldn't surprise me to see Missouri take Alabama to the woodshed, like Oklahoma did in last year's Sugar Bowl but I doubt y'all's refs will allow that to happen with so much on the line.

When is the last time a big 12 team won a national championship? I will hang up and listen.

I think it was due to all the Big 12.
That and what was mentioned by Tom Tucker on Family Guy.
But yeah, there is definitely a green and purple smell to it. I see it going down on the 1-2 just like that.

Missouri was already a decent program in the Big 12 and moving into the SEC means you have to upgrade your facilities and people want to play for you when you move to a good conference. A&M was always competing with Texas and once A&M made the move to the SEC, the players from Texas wanted to play for a better conference so they decided to go to A&M

Please stop making me laugh!
Mizzou today and for the last 3 years has absolutely no reflection on our former conference. I did not see the BIG 12-2+2-2 jumping in to claim Mizzou during our first year in the SEC or after a loss to Indiana this year. Mizzou made the move for one reason and that was for equal treatment and opportunity, something that was sorely lacking in our conference. Four teams left, and Mizzou was the 3rd founding member to do so. But somehow being the last to leave made Mizzou the bad guy in the eyes of many. Go figure.
Five different SEC teams have won the NC in recent years, that is a little more depth than top heavy.

Both conferences got better because of this move:
(TCU + WVU) > (A&M + MU)
(TCU + WVU) > (A&M + MU)

He's got a point
But TCU really needs to pick it up in hoops.

Keep up the excellent work on these threads. Gold star. I'm compiling a journal to record them all for posterity.

Pretty much a fact. After JFF, Aggies have returned to their natural state of mediocrity and Mizzou has pretty much proved that the SEC east is a paper tiger. Hell neither team won shite in the Big 12 and you know it.
