Richt could have two on his resume if he'd beat the teams that he should and stop shitting the bed against underdogs.

During Florida's 2000 SEC Championship season, they got pummelled by underdog Miss. State. In 2003 when LSU won the SEC/MNC, they lost to an 8-5 underdog Florida team. In 2007, they lost to 8-5 underdog Kentucky and 8-5 underdog Arkansas. In 2008, Florida's SECC/MNC lost to an underdog Ole Miss team that was coming off ugly losses to Wake Forest and Vanderbilt. They also beat South Carolina in 2006 due to a blocked field goal by Jarvis Moss, one of several players who would never have been on the field under UGA rules.

Those are just a few of many examples of conference/national champions that lose games everyone thought they should win. It's especially common in the SEC because every team manages to get some very good athletes. Everyone thought Florida was a gimme this year, but they were loaded with athletes who could have gone anywhere in the country. A bad game, a slight letdown after several tough games, or just a bad break/injury, against a schedule full of great athletes can cause a loss, except in some ideal world you have constructed in your head.
