LOL. Dude I like Birmingham but it has pretty bad traffic and way less character than Atlanta. Your points about Atlanta and Dallas are partially legitimate, but acting like Birmingham is some character-rich city is insane. It's Atlanta-light on that front.
You have never been on 285 during rush hour. I laugh at those who complain about 280, I use to sit in traffic in Atlanta for 1 hour and a half everyday to go 15 miles to work. Atlanta's Metro area consist of new Office Buildings and Parking Decks. Atlanta has zero ethnic identity(ie NYC, Boston, SF). So Birmingham with less traffic gets my vote.

Seriously, that's just stupid.

Ha you're the exact person I described in my previous post. Where did you live and work? Dunwoody/buckhead right?
The traffic statement is 100% accurate but it's sad that you worked/lived here and never actually experienced atlanta.

I am, quite literally, on 285 every day during rush hour(s).
Atlanta has exceptional ethnic diversity that far exceeds Birmingham. It really isn't close. Feel free to take tours of all of Gwinnett County and Buford Highway if you'd like.
I'm going easy on you for being one of my ilk, but it really sounds like you've never been to Midtown, Va Highland, half of Buckhead, Brookhaven, Inman Park, West Midtown, etc. There are a ton of gentrifying neighborhoods that I don't even like (Kirkwood, Reynoldstown, etc.), but Atlanta has much, much more going on than Birmingham, and I like Birmingham.
Now, I do see how you can subjectively like Birmingham more (plenty of people do), but the less character thing is pretty close to being objectively false.
