If the scouts say Robinson has a "higher ceiling" then they obviously believe he has the capability to MENTALLY handle the position. Robinson has never given any indication that he is incapable of MENTALLY handling the position.
He's a smart, well-spoken kid. Tell me please, what other indication you have picked up on that this black kid from a poor background can't "mentally handle" the same position that a white kid born with a silver spoon in his mouth and raised with every advantage is currently failing at?

Ok? So all the scouts are racist? I'm just confused at who you are saying is labeling he and Matthews differently due to race or upbringing. For one he played in an offense that required mastery of roughly 5-6 set plays with variations, which meant a lot of scouts had no tape or idea how he would fare with an NFL playbook.
Also, Matthews is failing because he is playing on one leg next to a lineup of OL who were either cut or undrafted. Check out the first 2 weeks of the season pre-injury. He was fantastic.

They said he has a higher athletic ceiling. He is playing guard instead of tackle because he can't comprehend a tackle's blocking scheme well enough.
Why are you so butt hurt about a player who isn't even on your team anymore?

Perfect comparison and exactly why Atlanta took Matthews
In baseball, if you hit a lot of doubles, you score a lot of runs. If you swing for the fences, sometimes you hit a homerun but many times you strikeout. I take this approach when scouting and developing my views and rankings.
Both of these offensive tackles are top-five overall prospects, but Jake Matthews is the higher ranked player. I envision him as a Day 1 starter who can immediately start at left tackle, perform at a high level and keep a team set at the position for a decade. Considering his father, Bruce Matthews, played 19 NFL seasons while making 14 Pro Bowls, it might be even longer than that.
After playing right tackle for the first three years of his Texas A&M career, Matthews transitioned well and proved to be better and more natural on the left side as a senior, which increases his value.
Robinson has a higher ceiling than Matthews but a much lower floor. His flaws might keep him from being a successful pass blocker early in his NFL career.
Matthews vs. Robinson

I mean, the reports already came out that the reason he isn't playing tackle is because he could not grasp the blocking schemes of a tackle.
Not sure why you are taking personal offense over a player who can't figure out NFL blocking schemes of a tackle.
Reports? Sure would like to see those reports. You have links?
Because right now the reason he's not playing tackle is because the Rams already had 2 good starting tackles and they needed a guard more.
You do understand that many OUTSTANDING OTs in this league started their career at OG first, right? And that it had nothing to do with their "mental capability".
Oh, and sorry the Falcons are gonna be stuck with yet another underperforming Aggie OT project. Doesn't look like he was the "safest" pick in the draft after all. Looking more like "project" to me.
Meanwhile Greg Robinson is mauling NFL defensive tackles while he learns his trade. Poor Matty Ice... he's gonna need lots of ice while child-of-privilege Matthews learns his, it seems.

Man, something def. crawled up your rear.
Matthews is going to be fine. When he was healthy this year he abused people. Everyone with a brain knows that and saw it. He's gutting it out because he has to, and that by itself is as impressive as any of the other stuff. Guy is going to be a 15 year maintsay at LT, and that is why the Falcons drafted him.

Lots of "might" and "mays" in that report. But (and you may have missed this) not a single instance where it was stated he couldn't "mentally" handle the tackle position.
So funny, I remember when I was being told that "high ceiling, low floor" Cam Newton couldn't "mentally handle" the QB position like "more NFL-ready" Blaine Gabbert. Probably by the same people people whose "reports" you are reading about Greg Robinson.

I never said I read anything about his mental capacity.
I did read and hear various reports about the fact that he was a late bloomer who hadn't played a whole lot and he played in a limited system in college in which he wasn't asked to adjust much, do many variations of blocking assignments, etc. I took that as basically scouts not having any tape to know whether he could, not some sort of indictment of his mental capacity.

The butt hurt is so strong in you.
Matthews actually did great when our Oline was healthy though. He will be a pro bowl LT for years to come, and Robinson will be equally great at Guard. Not sure there is anything wrong with either.

By the way, PFF ranked Matthews 71st out of 71 offensive tackles in the league.
Dead last.
I'm sure if he was the NFL-ready football savant you silly Falcons purport him to be, he'd find some way not to be DEAD LAST even with an injury, right?
Or is Baby Matthews the only player in the history of the NFL thats had to suck it up and play with an injury?
None of the other 70 tackles graded above him could possibly be playing injured, right?

Jesus christ how many times do you need to hear that he is playing on 1 leg? On top of that EVERYONE ELSE ON HIS LINE has been injured. All of them. They are now starting a guy the Bucs cut at RT and a UDFA at Center. It has only been mentioned 87 times in this thread. Not to metnion the expectation was for him to start at RT (like almost all eventual great LT do as rookies) and then Sam Baker got hurt.
Check out his rankings the first few weeks, before he went gimp and when he was playing around semi-competent NFL OL. He was playing just fine.

7 games in and Matthews is already a Pro Bowler and Robinson is a career guard.
The League could use you, brah. Drop everything now and go make big bucks dishing them some knowledge.

Well, first few weeks, even at LT replacing Baker.
After Holmes and "Brawley" went down, it got worse. After Konz went down last week, it was even worse. Guard having to make up for the 3rd stringers, leaving Matthews to get picked on while suffering from a nagging injury.

At night time, do you count your blessing to each Auburn football god, or just the almighty Newton?

Anyone aruging this point has a massive agenda or a thick head, maybe both.

Verrett is the only other one I see as competition. I don't think a DT (unless he has a lot of sacks and Donald doesn't) will win it
Mack is awesome also but not as impactful and not a leader like CJ Mosley has already been for Bmore

If Matthews isn't healthy enough to play, then why are they playing him?
Is the NFL like amateur golf and bowling now? Players are provided handicaps?
And here I always thought it was the big-boy league and that players on the field had been physically determined to have the capability to play their position.

Because like we have already said...we already have 5 injuries on the line and are playing practice squad players.....
It's like you know nothing about football at all.
