i assume this has already been covered on this board and i missed it, so sorry or whatever, but what exactly happened here? and this is a sincere question, Ill do my best to avoid any smart-arse comments.
why is one CB covering 3 WRs? and why are the bama coaches just standing there as it happens? and most of all why does freeze call a timeout when he has a obvious advantage and wallace is calling for the ball?

This was discussed on the Tiger Rant two days ago. I told them to talk about it here and got a warning. You're going to get banned.

Safety in the middle deep and Perry dropped to inside pattern. Ole Miss called time rather than be fooled by the bait.

Looks like bama had a blitz called in hopes of getting to Bo before he could get it off
the TO is because the play clock was about to run out
missed opportunity by OM

Two DB's are in a blitz look and there is a safety there if you can see the shadow poke in.
We haven't had a consistent group of guys in at DB all season, so something as simple as a bunch formation really seemed to give us problems. Thankfully they seemed to have it figured out against A&M.

looks like they are disguising the blitzer to me.

yea there is a safety there but still a mismatch

Not at all. And the timeout was due to OM being confused, no other excuse for it in a situation like that.

Ole Miss killed us with that trips formation...we looked confused each time they ran it...don't know the exact play you're talkin' 'bout but, from what I recall, we'd usually have 2 DBs matched up with 2 WRs/1 TE and then a LB would peel back and try to cover the TE as the ball was snapped...we weren't very effective though...

Yes plus 1 them was gonna delay drop back cover under neath if bama blitz work saban look genius but big risk

I assume since it was 3rd and 10 the intention is to put pressure on Bo to make him throw quick pass there short of the sticks with the expectation that Landon Collins will make a play to stop them short.
I doubt both Mo Smith and Nick Perry were blitzing there.
I don't love how we blitz our DB's sometimes instead of just playing Base, but it has worked more often then not over the years.

Nick was dropping to inside right as this clip ends.

Bo Wallace gonna Bo Wallace!
He should've seen that there was no CB there!
That's a touchdown if they didn't mess up!

quote:this is wallace calling for the ball with 3 seconds left. the safety is on the opposite hash, I tagged Perry, who is also a safety, and the two DBs arent even looking. theres one corner between 3 WRs and the end zone. and wallace had the ball in his hands with 2 seconds left.

what was the "bait", to break the over?

I guess the answer you are looking for is that Bama was in a busted coverage but got bailed out by the offense not recognizing it sooner.

To throw underneath. If that picture is three seconds on play clock, there was a lot of moving and stepping back to look at sideline afterwards.

This is how our defense consistently looks against HUNH. Check with me to the sideline when Auburn/Oklahoma/Ole Miss is snapping the ball.
Such a stupid way to run a defense.
