No but he may be in the top 5 for the style he runs by virtue of there not being many who run it. That's not a knock either. Kiffin looks to be a capable OC, however, I'd caution any Bama fan that an OC working with Bama talent is always going to look good. That's just how good your recruits/players have been compared to everyone else. IOW, it's very hard to judge how good or bad he might be just on Bama.

That said, the knock on Kiffin has never been that he's an incompetent but that he's amoral, prone to cheating in rather dumb ways, and can act like a douche.

Then there's the inevitable destruction he always seems to cause sooner or later.

I wouldn't expect a lot of positive answers to this question. Ever since Kiffin was hired by Saban, a large number of opposing fans couldn't laugh hard enough. Crow doesn't go down all that well for most people.

He wasn't the sole OC at USC and when he was the head coach their offense was abysmal.

He has done well so far at Bama, but its been 4 games.

I don't think he should be considered top 5 at the moment, so no.

Would say his stint at USC definitely means he isn't top 5. Their offense sucked under him and improved with interim coach after he left.

He may be, I really don't know. I think he's good, whether he's exceptional or not is something we'll need more time to assess.

I'm just not seeing the same thing others are seeing from Alabama. Obviously the offense looks formidable, but with so many huge plays (and huge defensive lapses), especially over a limited period, I just don't know quite what we're dealing with yet.

Can I expect bubble screens and RB passes to account for 150 yards/game all year? Will Cooper get the same wide open long balls all season?

I just don't know, just like I don't think we know that Gurley is going to average 10 yards a carry all year. Doesn't mean I don't think he's good, and he may well be elite, but that type of success isn't usually sustained over the long haul, so we simply have to wait and see.

I don't think that is a put down to Bama or Kiffin (or Sims or Gurley, etc.)

Kiffin clearly knows football and can communicate it effectively in an interview-type environment.

But he must be the worst leader on earth. Every program he has touched has ended up in flames.
