Yeah, I never want to see Sylve on the field again. I thought all of our corners were shite tonight. Didn't notice any improvement from last year.
Jones had some good plays. Looked shaky sometimes, but Ill give him the benefit of the doubt.
Sylve... looked lost, terrible feet, burnt, slapped around, and gloved all over. What scares me is that he played the whole game... We took Leon Brown out when he fricked up. Why not Sylve? At what point would they have taken him out if he would have continued to get shite on?

Never won every game with AJ either. It's a team game and takes a real team effort (plus some big breaks) to win them all

Sims played fine, not sure why you guys are complaining about him. He is easily better than AJ or McElroy in their first starts.
When the defense was the only reason the game was close.

Well, technically AJ and GMAC scored TDs in their first starts.
I'd still argue Sims did better though.

I'm not complaining about him. He's exactly what I thought he was. But, some of y'all need to realize that some teams will have the ability to take away all that short stuff. And there are some 8 man fronts we won't be able to run against.

Doubt it matters unless the defense improves dramatically.
Plus it was his first start, it's not like he lacks arm strength to pass down field

His arm is better than GMAC's.
That's about all I'm prepared to say for Sims' arm strength as of right now. Gotta see more vertical throws.

He did a good job leading the offense in a two minute drill before the half. We needed a score and he got us one.
No kidding. He looked as good as AJ ever did in a two minute drill(save maybe LSU 2012), and people say that they can't see him leading us in the clutch. I'm not saying he definitely will, but nothing I've seen says he can't. In fact, he seems like he is pretty badass in the two minute offense.
What really impressed me is his instinct in the pocket. He is VERY hard to sack and he showed that he can avoid a defender and still stay in the pocket and make reads.

Im pretty shocked how douchy our fans are about sims. I cant believe we are complaining about him when he did 100x better than anyone thought he would, accounted for 300 of our 540 yards, completed 70%+ of his passes. Our fans really are the absolute worst

Yep. A pocket passer would've been sacked 2 or 3 times tonight

Maybe I'm being a little negative but I think if Sims is the guy, we are really missing out on some opportunities by not drawing up some plays that take advantage of his legs. There were a few times today where he should've tucked it and run.

I think we want to keep the O basically the same no matter who is at QB. That way if BS gets hurts, nothing changes. But I agree with you. Would've liked to have seen a couple more design QB runs. Wouldn't even necessarily have to be the zone read either. Bootlegs and draws would be effective with BS.

Sims had a very good game today, his job was to lead the Tide to a win over West Virginia and he did that.
Now Coker has 2 weeks to learn the offense and get some game reps. If Sims plays the entire game against Florida, then Bama will be in trouble.
If Coker hasn't taken control by then, this season could get ugly. I don't see Sims leading the Tide to wins at Ole Miss or at LSU, unless the defense plays lights out. Bama will have to score a lot of points to beat Texas A+M. Bama will have to pass to open up the run game in those games.

You nailed it. Some people on this board act like they expected the second coming of Tom Brady. I just don't get the vitriol for a guy who played a very solid game. If it has anything to do with his skin color then find another team to support. I trust CNS to put the best players on the field and that's all any true Bama fan should care about.

Coop, Yeldon, and Henry all got fed. Kiffin is a smart man.

Also I agree with the points of having plays that utilize Sims running ability and also think Alabama should do more no huddle. Even Saban said the offense was more effective when Alabama didn't huddle. Sims could be a master at the roll-out passes and bootlegs with his scrambling. Blakes ability to stretch the pocket and create opportunities is valuable. I don't see him being sacked much at all. Just need to him to focus on his downfield throws.

If by "exceeded expectaitons" you guys mean he looked like a capable MAC starter, than yes, he exceeded expectations. I am still praying Coker wins the job somehow.

Oh please. Don't be so spoiled. He made a couple of poor throws and didn't really impress going deep, but besides that he looked average. He was fast and able to pick up yards on scrambles with ease. He's escape ability in the pocket when under pressure was impressive. He should have been sacked about three or four times where he was able to slightly side step a defender and create more time.
All in all for a first time start, in a big stage, Blake played well. In no way shape or form can you honestly say he is a MAC level QB. He's not bad.

Get that shite out of here. No one cares what color his fricking skin is. The only ball he could consistently throw was a screen pass.

He would be a great QB for Bill Clark over at UAB, but he's just not good enough for us.
