They don't look that great except for showing arm sleeves in the photos

I like them. It's nice to see them ditch the standard serif 'AUBURN' typeface.

So you think he only plays 1 year? Because it doesn't look like he will be suiting up this season

Talked to someone who works for basketball and he said Purifoy is the most talented guy at AUv and not even close. If he is bubble lotto he is gone maybe even lower

While he may only play 1 year, he would have had two years of coaching with Chuck emphasizing shooting.

Davion Mitchell is on the rise in 2017

High Majors on board after Peach Jam performance

The rest of the country is catching up to what I saw in Liberty County HS guard Davion Mitchell as an 8th grader. The 6-2 185 pound guard has a high basketball IQ, motor, athletic, good passer with lockdown defensive abilities.

His Peach Jam performance has garnered offers from Florida, Georgia, Louisville, UCONN and Wake Forest, to go along with previous offers from Auburn, SMU and Memphis. Mitchell is built like former Louisville guard Terry Rozier with a solid build, allowing him to finish through contact and long arms to lock up on defense. He does a good job of running the team without dominating the ball, kicks the ball up the floor on the break and is extremely effective coming off ball screens.

 Auburn improves in 2nd scrimmage.

Tyler Harris totaled 23 points, six rebounds and two steals, Devin Waddell 16 points on four of six treys and Kareem Canty 12 points and seven assists in Auburn’s second intrasquad scrimmage on Wednesday in Auburn Arena.

Horace Spencer chipped in 11 points on five of seven field goals, seven rebounds, two blocks and two steals while Tahj Shamsid-Deen and Danjel Purifoy added 10 points apiece. Shamsid-Deen had three assists while T.J. Dunans had scrimmage-highs of seven assists and four steals to go along with four points and zero turnovers.

Harris went 8-of-10 from the floor and 7-of-8 from the foul line.

The Tigers scrimmage included a pair of 10-minute periods and a pair of four-minute sessions.

“I thought we made some progress,” said second-year Auburn head coach Bruce Pearl. “We had a positive assist-turnover, but we still turned it over too much. We turned it over less. I thought we executed some things really well. We have more size, and Horace did some things around the basket. Tyler shoots 8-of-10 and the two shots he missed were layups.”

Cinmeon Bowers notched eight points, five assists and four steals while making all three of his field goal attempts and both of his foul shots. TJ Lang had eight points on 2-of-4 three-pointers while New Williams had three points and two rebounds.

“I thought we got good point guard play between Kareem with seven assists and three turnovers and Tahj three and one,” Pearl said. “We didn’t shoot it particularly well. We shot it great from the foul line, over 80 percent. I’ve been pretty hard on them. I think today was better. The strength isn’t going to be our five. It is going to be our 10.”

Auburn shot 49.3 percent from the floor, making 35-of-71 field goal attempts and made nine 3-pointers while shooting 81.3 percent from the foul line on 26-of-32 attempts.

“I thought it went well today,” said Shamsid-Deen. “I think the guys were more focused and learning the plays and defensive schemes better. That is a big part in that the season is two weeks away.”

Auburn plays its first of two exhibition games against Brevard College on Oct. 30 followed by Indianapolis on Nov. 5. The Tigers open the regular season at home against UAB, who reached the third round of last season’s NCAA Tournament by upsetting No. 3 seed Iowa State, on Nov. 13.

Oh, that was just the title of the article. I thought the same thing you did after seeing that stat line. Maybe he has improved from last year. I don't remember him attempting a trey last year, much less making one.

Through the first 2 scrimmages we haven't heard much at all from Bowers. It seems like he would be dominating our scout team.

We're going to need more from the 2 guard spot. Harris and Canty will need help scoring. Bowers and Spencer will probably hover around that 8-10ppg range so we need Lang or Dunans to step up and be a consistent 16ppg 2 guard.

There has been talk about how Bowers is diong well having some additional presence in the paint (Harris/Spencer) and that he has improved his passing skills. Bruce made the point that he needs him to act like a piont forward if he wants to be a point forward

More importantly, Bowers lost 30 pounds. He is going to have a big adjustment to playing without an overwhelming weight advantage in the post

Has anyone received basketball tickets in the mail yet? Do we get exhibition games in the season tickets?

Starting to worry with the first home game less than 2 weeks away and nothing
