you dont have to be 300+ if you're strong and quick So maybe a good change

They weren't good when they were the fattest OL in the SEC (and NCAA...and NFL) so I'd rather them try for fit OL.

For offensive linemen, first step is all important. They must be quicker than the defense. If the OL gets position on the DL, they can guide the DL away from the ball. Let's hope the OL are getting proper agility drills so they can be in position.

Weight and size in general are positive aspects for OL if the player in question is in good shape and has the athletic ability to block opposing DL. If not, then the extra weight quickly becomes a liability. Apparently our coaches felt that we had too many linemen who could not effectively carry that much excess weight. We will see soon enough if our strategy pays off. If our OL starts getting bowled over then either the strategy failed or we simply haven't recruited well enough on the OL which I feel has been the case for some time now. Hopefully this new group can come together.

When Denver was dominating running the football they were the smallest line in the NFL so I hope this helps

Is this a trap?

This is a big change in Richt's philosophy.
Usually, UGA has the biggest OLs.
The difference between 298 and 308 isn't that much. I wouldn't worry about a 10 pound difference.
Now, a 20 pound difference will matter. Teams that big will wear out defensive lines.
UGA won't be wearing defensive lines out, so their techniques better be good.

They will if they are running more hurry up spread which is what it sounds like Mason is more comfortable with.

Ok maybe mason starts but bauta takes it from him midseason.

Well I was being serious.
Barring injury or a 1/25, 0TD/4INT type of game, Mason is not getting replaced by Bauta.

Right.
And in2013 no way uga loses to vandy and lets tech take them to overtime. And furthermore, winless auburn winning the sec.

The situations aren't remotely comparable. I'm talking about the clear cut, established starter being benched, you're talking about a team winning/losing games.

Im talking about plebians thinking they have a clue about reality. Schools of catfood running from dynamite.

So the "reality", as you see it, is that a backup who has never taken a snap in a college game is going to (over the course of roughly 6 games) unseat our 5th year senior QB who has actually started and won games for us, and is the undisputed, unquestioned starter?
What exactly makes that reality?
