Wrong. They have all the right in the world to be cocky. They should be the cockiest team in the conference. People would not shut up about how bad a fit they were and how awful they would be in the SEC. They caught so much shite. Then they went out and won the east in their SECOND year in the conference. After enduring an injury plagued 2012 and relentless offseason. frick, MIZ should run their mouths all day long on here. They deserve it.

They get to Atlanta in the biggest shite show of a year the EAST has seen in a while. UGA, UF, had more injuries than players. Tenn is in official year 1 of rebuilding. Kentucky is Kentucky. At the end of the day, Vandy is still Vandy. The only DECENT school they played was SCAR and that was without Shaw for a good portion of the game. They also struggled against Okie Lite. I just don't get the confidence going into this season for them.
The East was not a shite show last season. The East was 27-29 last season. That's one game from being .500 against the SEC West. For comparison, the East was 18-30 in 2010, 28-28 in 2012, 21-27 in 2011, and 22-26 in 2009. Georgia being their usual mediocre self and Florida sucking does not mean the SEC East was down. The SEC needs to get used to the idea of Mizzou leading the East. It's the new reality.

A&M will win the West before LSU, although they won't win it for probably 3 or 4 years.
And to take it one further, they will finish higher than LSU in the West on a regular basis if they keep on pulling in classes like they have been

Yet they couldn't do this with their best player ever in program history the last two seasons?
Weird.
Weird.

Keep telling yourself that!
Two teams ranked in top 5 at end of year....There was strength in the SEC east.
And I don't think Mizzou fans are cocky, just confident we will compete.

Huh but they're still Mizzou. Playing with lesser talented players avg 3*'s. When Mizzou had injuries nobody used that as an excuse to why they sucked. Strange how that works.
Oh and Mizzou had worse injuries in 2012. OL, QB, RB,all in the same damn year. That's your offensive production. As you notice last season they put up more points than in 2012. Hmmm.

ETA: Mizzou already pulling in better recruits for next years class. Wait until Pinkel start avg 4*'s and a few 5*'s. Hell he's doing what he's doing with 2-3*. Hell think what would happen if Mizzou lowered their academic standards for football players. They'd really pull in the ghetto/hood players from the south. lol.

Well I can't say you're wrong since it's an opinion about a team two years from now, but LSU has consistently recruited well and developed talent to keep up near or at the top of the SEC for some time now.
Maybe I'm too hard on A&M because they haven't beaten us yet but they are a solid team that have shown they could beat anyone the last two seasons. However, just like LSU they shown tendencies of being inconsistent.
Oh well, hopefully our down year on defense will improve, but it's funny because our down year was still a top 15 defense nationally if I remember right.

tRant, 2012: Lol, this is the SEC. These are the big dogs. I love how these midwesterners have convinced themselves that they can just come into the NFL's player farm and compete with their Big 12 offense. They know we don't play flag football in the SEC, right? Someone DID tell them that, right?
tRant, December 2013: Yeah, well, you know…
Missouri puts up or shuts up and now there's nothing but a bunch of asshurt pansies up in this place
Good job and good luck, Mizzou.

The 2012 nonsense is why you see a lot of Mizzou fans acting like huge douches now. During and after the 2012 season, we got it from all corners that we would never be able to compete in the SEC because of SEC depth and such.
We didn't get that just from places like the rant. if you turned on CFB Live, it'd the same tune. Then we turn around and win the East, and do it with the second largest average margin of victory in SEC play, and it is just excuse after excuse.
We might be the first team since Utah 12 or so years ago to get left off the pre season top 25 rankings after finishing the top 5 year, and that happened to Utah because they lost Urban and their QB. We get no respect I tall ya. No respect at all.

I love this board's circle-jerky, hive-mind mentality.
Let me get something straight, in 2012 Mizzou loses like 4 of their projected starting linemen, starting QB, and a ton of other positions and the consensus is that we have no depth and that kind of stuff is the norm in the SEC.
Fast forward a year and we only won because the other teams had crippling injuries and we got lucky we didn't have any! (oh and arguably our two best players, James Franklin and EJ Gaines were both injured for almost half the season)
Stupid.

It's true that SCAR had to play their backup for most of that double overtime game. Then again, Mizzou played their backup QB the ENTIRE game. I would still categorize it as a "competitive game".

LOL. Probably because everybody, and I mean everybody gave you a pass, saying "Injuries! Injuries!"
Yet, nobody, and I mean nobody ever gave us any acknowledgement of our INJURY plagued 5-7 season.
The simple fact is, there is a lot of old guard mentality. If UF has a bad year, there are acceptable reasons why. If Mizzou has a good year, there are excuses allowed for the old guard that Mizzou is not privileged to take.
