not really. Clemson was always considered the premier program in the state and the Cocks were seen as second tier.
Yes, Texas and A&M is a bigger scope in terms of wins and program sizes but the scenario is the same.
No, we've not passed them. Yes we are the "hot" team now. One thing that has really swung in our favor is the political power of Aggies within the state. I think for Texas, that's a piece worth pointing out. We had little stroke before, and it seems like we are really in the drivers seat in that respect now.
Take the collective bait, I did not.

In the minds of some, A&M will never surpass Texas because of the all time records. Texas has that sewn up and congrats to them. The future OTOH is a completely different story.
The financial advantage Texas had over A&M is gone. The size advantage is gone. The resources advantage is gone. A&M is now in a far superior conference with far more high profile games that get publicity. A&M has managed to do all of this without a Conf Title since '98 or a Natty since '39.
If A&M struggles and Texas succeeds then of course Texas can retake the momentum and lead. However, the opposite is the more likely scenario as of now. If A&M were to win the SEC and a Natty at some point in the next few years watch out. If you think A&M has come a long way and raised a lot of money now just watch out if that happens. The sleeping giant is awake but it is just getting started.
Texas is a rich and storied program as well and is very capable of pulling itself up, regardless of what A&M does. That's fine. I could also see a scenario develop that is similar to when Florida/Miami/FSU were all basically Top 10 teams for a good stretch. Maybe even moreso considering the resources of A&M and Texas.
I will say this though. As long as Texas continues to live in a daydream that they will succeed simply because "We're Texas" that dream will continue to turn into a nightmare.
