I guessed 92 because that is when Arkansas and USC joined the SEC.

So from 92-97 the southwest conference must have been the modern day conference USA.

Well I'll be.
Most people here put Sumlin in the basement of coaches, Cbandits82.
I just assumed you were one of em.
My apologies for broad-brushing you with the madding crowd.

I've no clue what Sumlin's future holds.
But Texas A&M University--like every other SEC school--is about far more than a single person.

Cool. It was an incorrect guess you hazarded, though

This is conjecture on your part, and also has nothing to do with anything, tbh.

But since you went there, I seem to remember that was a good time to open the season against LSU...

Short of winning the NCAA playoffs nobody respects any team from the Big 12. Slightly better than a mid-major conference.

I love Louisiana.
I just honestly don't get the hostility that oozes from some of these tigers.

Texas vs Texas A&M Serious question: Why do you argue every point? It's like you see "A&M," and some kind of hostile adrenaline shoots through your system. There's nuthin' wrong with kicking back and enjoying life's ride, ya know? Lord almighty, if I carried around the animus some of y'all did, I think I'd have to be drunk, 24/7.

Just having fun with yall. Chill out. Believe it or not I pull for A&M against Bama and when yall played Texas.

I think A&M has some momentum right now on the recruiting trail. We will see what they do with it. Just remember that UT was on top a few years ago, so things can change quickly.

That terrible Texas A&M team beat Oklahoma by 14 points after leading 19-0 at one point.

I imagine Oklahoma would have gotten beaten just as badly if they played a real opponent in their bowl and not Uconn.

Yo yo, I'm chill, bro.

I've just noticed it with you in particular--the Aggie enmity, that is.
Was just curious about its origins.

Agreed.

I would hasten to add, however, that nothing texas does at this point can affect the caliber of competition and the stage we have in this conference.

That's why going to the SEC independent of them was such a watershed moment for our program. Yes, sports are cyclical, but we have effectively and permanently changed the game when it comes to them.

To the point: the second we came to the SEC we went from being a top 30 coaching job to be a top 15 coaching job.

Eventually having a top 15 coaching job gives us a good chance at becoming a top 15 program.

Outside of recruiting what Texas does is irrelevant to us.

Pawwwwwllll ....
quote:

@InsideTAMU: RT @dmn_colleges: ESPN personality Paul Finebaum in new book: 'Of all SEC programs, I think A&M poses the greatest long-term threat to Alabama's dominance

quote:

“A&M has a different feel to it than any other school in the SEC – for that matter, than any other school in the country,” Finebaum said. “I can’t think of another place where the students take more pride in their college than A&M.

“I’m intrigued by Texas A&M. I see greatness-to-be. For so many years A&M was the stepchild to Texas, much like Auburn has been to Alabama. But I don’t see that anymore. The shroud has been lifted and A&M is out of the Big 12, and out of Texas’s burnt orange shadow. I think the Aggies will be a force in the SEC and college football for a very long time.

“First of all, A&M has a formidable fan base. When those people unite behind something or someone, watch out. They can move the needle. Or let me put it this way: of all the programs in the SEC, I think A&M poses the greatest long-term threat to Alabama’s dominance. Greater than Auburn, than LSU, than Florida.”
