you know how ridiculous someone would look in this conversation?
"where ya from?"
"Alabama"
"ROLL TIDE!!!!"
"Um...I graduated from Auburn."
Probably happens frequently. But you left off the last part of the quote...
"Where's that?"

I'm speaking specifically of international encounters and domestic encounters outside of SEC territory.
I lived in Minnesota and the people there knew Auburn was in Alabama.
And any American traveling internationally likely knows this too

It has to do about caring about who you are, instead of who you are pulling for. Simple as that.

Sure. I've already answered that. Alabama has a larger student base, and a larger sidewalk base. Because of that, we have more fricktards - thus more of an opportunity for someone in our fanbase to make the news doing something retarded.

What are we suppose to get from this?
Well if you click the LINK you'll find it is a more accurate way of telling the size of fandom based on individuals clicking "like" across the country. Not a survey from only 30,000 people and TV market rates that are not as accurate. By looking at TV market you don't paint a very accurate picture of fandom. For instance in the Birmingham/Tuscaloosa market it's going to show that I'm watching Auburn and Arkansas at 11:30, but that doesn't mean I'm a fan of either. Same thing when you're watching Alabama and LSU at 6:30.

I wouldn't be too quick on this one. I remember seeing a video a while back where something like 80% of people thought Washington DC was located in Washington state. People suck at geography. A few people actually correctly know Auburn is in Georgia.

Notre Dame and Michigan have huge fan bases too and I don't see them all over the news. Or UCLA, or Oklahoma, or Southern Cal.
eta or LSU
and we have an entire state

Also, people on this site tend to overestimate the popularity of college football in the rest of the country. A majority of Americans couldn't even tell you who plays in the Iron Bowl.

you're the first bama fan to ever say this
but I think you drastically UNDERestimate how many people follow CFB. Have you lived outside of the south?
