Litchfield and Fripp to resort like for me. Isle of Palms is probably the beach I have spent the most time on(owned a house there) outside of living in Cali on the beach. Easy to access, never as crowded as other beaches in the Charleston area, but not a small town feel to it. Pawley I really like.

I guess my definition of small is where there are no major resorts and gold courses. Also very limited on chain restaurants. Beaufort is nice but overpopulated during the summer with people that act like they have never seen the ocean nowadays. Also if you get out to the Outer Banks a little north of Nags Head is a great little town called Corolla.
