I get tired of the Archibalds is the best ever schtick on here. It is like they hired a PR firm to build them up on TD.com.
If those frickers would ship me ribs to NC I'd start a thread every day.

I didn't know some of these bands came from Athens. Is the music scene that big there?

Yes it is. Harvey Milk is another great band from there.

Canes is a knockoff of Laynes back when LSU came to Kyle Field and got their arse handed to them. Some LSU grad stole the idea/formula.
quote:
1. Raising Cane’s did originate in Baton Rouge, home of LSU (go Tigers!) but the owner did not attend LSU – he attended and graduated from the University of Georgia in Athens, Ga.

2. As far as the comment that it is likely that the idea for Raising Cane’s came from Layne’s because Layne’s opened before Raising Cane’s and LSU played Texas A&M in 1992 – There’s a chicken finger restaurant that’s similar to Layne’s named Guthrie’s. It began in 1968 in Alabama. It has locations that predate Layne’s throughout Alabama, Georgia, Florida and Mississippi. Did Texas A&M play any games in any of those states in the 60s, 70s, 80s or early 90s? If so, it seems not only plausible, but likely that the idea for Layne’s came from Guthrie's. Or maybe the idea came from Zaxby’s the chicken finger restaurant that started in 1990 and has locations all over the southeast United States.
once again, arrogant texans think they world revolves around their shitty state.
laynes toast sucks balls.
thats Texas toast and its from LA.

Tuscaloosa is also where Sigma Alpha Epsilon (SAE), the largest Greek fraternity in the U.S., originated.
Chuck Leavell, keyboardist for the Stones and the Dead among others is from Ttown. The Yellow Hammer (drink) was also invented there.
P.S. Raisin Cains is a knockoff of Guthries (not Laynes) which is where the LSU grad that founded Cains worked and got the idea for Cains.
Edit: UGA grad

WSP is a terrible band. Awful music. Unless, of course, an individual is on shrooms.
However, that individual probably thinks everything is cool while trippin' shrooms, so my original statement is accurate.

I've heard the "Canes is a knockoff" claim about 5 or 6 different places. This is a new one.
I'm not a Cane's fanboy, either. Too expensive for what you get now. I do like to hit the original after a late show at the Varsity, however.
