I used to be until I started making pies. It's too fun to make.

My wife is not a spectacular cook but she makes a recipe called stinky chicken that I will straight up fart out 2000 calories worth of 12 hours later.

Good.
Only place I've ever liked the meringue from is from Lecompte, La. Damn strong pies.
I don't do any of the desserts, the lady enjoys that. I make entrées. Meat. Spices. Fire. Yum.

I don't do desserts or baking for the most part. You usually need to follow the recipe exactly for those, and I'm not good at that.

Something that makes food consistently good.

That's why I'm not good at baking. I season to taste, and don't usually follow recipes exactly.

My wife is not a cook, which is surprising because her mom is an excellent cook. I'm trying to think of something she's made that was good and I'm coming up blank. She made this crock pot soup one time that was decent, but I don't call dumping ingredients into a crock pot cooking.
I'm fine with it though because I enjoy cooking.

My SO is an incredible cook and baker. Her specialty is Lebanese dishes like stuffed squash and grape leaves. She makes some fantastic desserts as well. There's a few pictures that have been posted on this site in the past of the Tiger Stadium cake the two of us made together once.

roasted Brussel sprouts
Those fricking things are not even allowed in my house. I enjoy most foods but Brussels sprouts make me vomit. just the smell will get me running.

Meringue is a huge pain in the arse. Probably easier in less humid climates.

I just made some last night. Was easy. And still fun.
I'm amazed every time at how the egg whites magically become fluff.

With my wife being Italian, one would think that I have it made, but hell no. She can't cook worth a damn!
