Honestly, and I know quite a few dozen of them, but the furthest MSU alumni I know personally lives in Atlanta. Almost all the rest either live in MS or Memphis. I'd say about a third of my friends from Ole Miss live in MS right now, almost all of which live in the Jackson Metro area. The vast majority are in Memphis, Nashville, Dallas, Atlanta, DC, NOLA, or NYC. State fans certainly don't leave their own State much at all compared to most other fanbases. I guess Georgia and maybe Florida don't leave their state all that much either though.

This isn't a troll but wouldn't it be a good thing for most MSU graduates stay in Mississippi if Ole Miss alumni aren't? Isn't Ole Miss the flagship institution of MS? Flagship Universities typically receive the most state funding and are responsible to meet the environmental, social, economic, scientific, & educational challenges that confront that state (Mississippi).

Don't get me wrong, out of state alumni are great and play a major part in alumni networking but I'm not sure how it's a great thing to have more out of state alumni than in-state alumni when you are a state's flagship university.

That is a valid point, and mine wasn't a troll either, for me personally though, Mississippi isn't a desirable state to live in. I have no desire to return there, aside from Oxford and Tunica. I think a large portion of my fanbase feels the same. So there's a valid point that its nice to have at least one university stepping in and holding down the fort. It could benefit your school and maybe even state in the long term.
