Was Earl Weaver a great manager, or was he great because he had a lot of talent? The same can be said about just about everybody. I think Bobo had done a very good job. Is it because he is a great coach or because he has great talent? It's hard for any coach to produce if he does not have good talent.
Does it matter? Bobo excels at recruiting that talent. Whether he's a really good OC because of playcalling or a really good OC because of recruiting, he's a really good OC. The final product is all that counts.

Um, it's not like the talent on offense is just handed to him. He recruits our guys, especially the South Georgia guys. Our offense has been towards the top of the conference for the last several years. That's because of really good players executing the plays of their coach that recruited them.

I don't know. Who all did Bobo recruit that you know of? I really don't follow who recruits who.
And yes...recruiting is part. Developing is part. Play calling is part. Motivating is part.
But it all boils down to what happens on the field. And the results have been very good the past few years, and seem to going up. That indicates to me that Bobo is a very good coach. I like him. Don't misunderstand what I am saying. I am afraid he will remain as an underappreciated coach, for some reason. (Of course, being offensive coordinator of the year could hardly be called underappreciated, could it?

All of our QBs, anyone from South Georgia, and he helps on all the high priority offensive targets.

I've been trying to find a list of who he has recruited. Can't find one. Do you know some of the players?
I'm not dogging Bobo. As I said...I am quite happy with him. I think we have a good coach at a very good cost. A bargain, really. I suspect he will be getting a whole lot more money soon.

That's great. Guys! I am not bad talking Bobo. Like I said..I like him.

The only thing we've had standing between us and about 2 NCs in CMR's tenure is D. In that time we've had one D-coordinator who was worth half a $hit, and it wasn't CTG. If Pruitt is half the coach I think he is, I'll be doubly happy. Let's allow him at least a down before we slam him.

Grantham went into that game with the reasonable assumption that "holding" was "illegal".

You can probably go to the Rivals recruiting archives on Ga players. I think the site posts which Coach is the lead recruiter for each player. But that's really a moot point. It's well known that Bobo excels in recruiting and any search would ferret that out.

Then he was wrong. Holding could be called on almost every single play. Players are taught to try to hold discreetly, so it is not called, and as long as they are not obvious with it, it does not get called.

I don't have a problem with Bobo, or his recruiting. They called me out because I said that I though Bobo has been more than adequate. It was not meant o be demeaning towards Bobo. Perhaps I should have been more emphatic as to how much more than adequate Bobo has been. he was, after all, named offensive coordinator of the year.

For the record, my post was not meant to call you out, but I could see how it could come off that way. I was just trying to add a point to the discussion.

I actually didn't feel lie I was being called out. I've been expressing myself poorly last couple of days. I always respect your opinion and posts.

Call me disney I've bought in boys . We got a better college coach cheaper then what we had (grantham ) he hired a younger more energetic coaching staff and really cannot do any worse then what we had with talent

I don't think UGA fans know what to expect from Pruitt. And that ingorance feeds into the hysteria.
Pruitt isn't going to solve 3rd and long. He will be just as frustrating as Grantham.
But he will solve rush defense against teams that can spread the field and push the ball deep against the secondary.
Pruitt will solve making good teams one dimensional.
And that will lead to more turnovers. And turnovers will win games.
Pruitt is the defensive version of Bobo. Multiple looks. Multiple ways to attack. Pruitt won't let the offense dictate how we defend. It will be our pressure Pruitt's way.
But that aggression will still give up big plays. High risk equals a balance of high reward and high failure. But the proof will be in the turnovers.

I don't think that will be true...like the turnovers, I think our third down percentge will go back toward the mean. we'll face less elite quaterbacks and those 3rd and 20+ conversions won't happen as much due to chance.

Agree to disagree.
We might stop one more third and long per game versus Grantham's 2013 campaign. But that still leaves a lot of fans questioning our methods.
The turnovers and wins will keep those critics silent.
But deep down, you will read mention of 3rd and Grantham over and over as we give them up at a similar pace.

i do think we're due for some turnovers. Would love to end up on the plus side in double digits.

Why do you believe this? Not arguing...just curious.
