This will help explain why the ban got lifted in Arkansas by lesbians who sued the state.
This is where the folks are mostly getting married today. Its a really weird little town, and for any open-minded or gay SEC fans who come to Fayetteville, you might want to check it out. Its about an hour drive from central Fayetteville. Also, its worth checking out for other reasons, just because its such a weird, beautiful little place.

The Gayest Small Town in America
quote:
I’m headed to Eureka Springs, Ark., a town of 2,000 in the heart of Baptist country. It’s rumored to be one-third LGBT. It’s an hour drive east from the cul-de-sacs and McMansions of Bentonville
quote:
Alvin and Charlie are letting me stay at their place: Magnetic Valley Retreat. It has a pool and is a clothing-optional, all-men’s resort nestled in the shadow of a six-story statue of Jesus. “You can take your shirt off if you want,” says Charlie poolside, silver-haired and strutting in grey boxer shorts with his signature vodka-cranberry-Mountain Dew cocktail in hand. Charlie is a grandfather thanks to a previous marriage to a woman who held a grudge against him for years after he came out.
“No thanks,” I say.
“You can be as naked as you want, but there’s no sex allowed out here,” Charlie tells me. “For that, you have to go check out the china, thataway.” He indicates the makeshift back room, a section of wood fencing that looks like a duck blind a few yards uphill, covered in ornamental dinner plates with mottoes like “Cherish the Moment” and “Sisters are Forever.”

It's almost too cliche to be true, but I have a gay uncle who lives there.

I have a cousin who lives there but he is straight. And now that I think about it, he's always single. And has a male roommate who came to thanksgiving with him last year. Hmmm....

I have a lot of family in Arkansas. I wonder if I have a gay uncle who lives in Eureka Springs?

Without a doubt, yes. Unless she is your aunt with balls.

I think he ran a B&B there for a while. He's breaking the mold.

It's a nice little town for sure! I just moved away from the area and was out there a lot for work. The problem with eureka isn't a homosexual issue, quite honestly never encountered anything too off the wall. They do have the Magnetic Resort but never been and or had a reason to go. They also have their parades and festavals.
The biggest issue with the area are the liberals and free loaders that wreck the beautiful area and town. Of course that will naturally happen when there are more bars in Eureka than the other counties combined, minus Benton and Washington Counties. The town has no support for the school system and future of how the town or Carroll County could use it to benefit them more. It's just another small town that will fall soon.

Fall? This ain't the dark ages man. Eureka Springs has been around for a long time, and liberals don't "wreck the town." They built it.

Eureka is its own little world. It has been liberal for a long time. They have three gay pride weekends up there a year.
If anything is failing in Eureka, is the Christian-themed attractions. The Passion Play is on life support.
There are no doubt some freeloaders, but you can't be poor and afford one of the old victorian homes in the city proper. It is mostly retirees and hippies over there. Beadmakers and artists. That type of shite. Nobody is making a lot of money there, but its not like its a poor place overall.
These homes and the overall vibe of the city is why people move there. It is like a small slice of New Orleans or San Fran or something.

Gem of a town.
The best bar in the town is labeled a gay bar but it's not.
