The move by Director of Athletics Mike Alden signaled a return to Missouri's proud history and helps the program welcome back a "True Son" (Sedalia, Mo.) who is coming off a 30-5 record with the Mules and the 2014 NCAA Division II National Championship. Anderson's national title run at UCM becomes even more impressive considering the program welcomed in 10 new players last season and had just one returning student-athlete averaging more than 4.7 points per game.
frick Mike Alden.

I'm excited. Let's get this show on the road!

This. Screw them, they had my scorn after Haith.

This was a hire strictly to appease older alum. No one and I repeat NO ONE in a major division wanted Anderson for a reason. There was a reason this guy was at D2. I can see Jayson Tatum smiling in his Kentucky uniform right now. No 5* is gonna play for a D2 coach. He gets better coaching in high school.

Old alumni don't fill seats.
Attendance will be lower next year than this.
This is the end of Mike Alden.

This is the worst thing that could have happen to Mizzou basketball, I will no longer attend or watch another basketball game until we get a actual coach and Alden is fired!! This is bull shite!!!!

So we see the reason Alden did not allow details of the coaching search to come out is because 95% of Fanbase would be against it and he would not be able to complete the higher. Aldon is an idiot. He's destroyed our basketball program.

A coach who isn't about to collect social security would be a start.

Old alumni only b*tch and complain. And it is hard to convince the student body to come support a program that has given them NOTHING since leaving the big 12. There was no problems with attendance when we beat kansas. This is an uninspiring hire and that is putting it nicely.

I agree. Not just until we get a new coach, but until Alden is fired.

I, as well as many of my classmates, am perfectly OK with this hire. I have no attachment to the Norm era whatsoever, as my earliest memories of Mizzou basketball are Kareem Rush, Ricky Paulding, and Quin Snyder. It's safe to say that I'm not a Norm "fanboy". I do feel that Kim Anderson is a good coach and is the kind of person we want in the job. He's not doing this for the paycheck. He's here because he loves Mizzou and is going to do everything he possibly can to succeed. Recruiting will come. He's not going to get 5* players but not a whole lot of coaches do. He's going to have assistant coaches with connections and his character and eventual results are going to lead to better recruiting. As someone who is still in college, I'm pretty shocked to see such a negative reaction from the older crowd who actually did watch Norm ball. I'm a glass half-empty kind of guy usually, but I feel good about this hire. Give me Kim Anderson over Frank Haith any day of the week.

There are other DII coaches with better resumes if thats the route we wanted to go.
Posted on 4/28/14 at 3:30 pm to reedus23
That's not the point. There are probably dozens of coaches with better resumes than him. What matters is that he fits the job, he WANTS to be here and will never spurn us for somewhere else, and he is a lifelong Tiger who cares for the well being and success of this program. If he and/or Mike Alden didn't feel that he was capable of being successful in this position, he wouldn't be our head coach. I trust Kim Anderson.

Why? We saw firsthand that Rich Daly was the person that got all of Norm's good players. KA's recruiting is the main reason that Norm got fired/resigned.

Yep this was a "he's from Mizzou" hire plain and simple. If Anderson fails Alden can just blame the old Norm lovers and say it wasn't his fault.

What the frick does being a loyal Missouri first guy have to do with recruiting or winning basketball games? If he doesn't make the tournament he'll get fricking canned, I don't give a shite if he's Harry Truman.

Give him some more time and he will do it for football as well.

Disagree. And I'm not a fan. While an uninspiring hire, it's clear (based on the press release) that Alden is feeling the heat from the repeated bad press Mizzou's been generated on the criminal front. Anderson is the squeaky clean, shoulder to the wheel, older brother who cleans up the shite show the younger brothers made of the family business.
And they're so embarrassed, they're willing to lose right now to try to stop the cycle of shite and apathy.
