I would rather have Frank Haith than Anderson
I don't understand how Anderson's resume even comes close to any of the other names being thrown around for the job. There is a reason why he was passed up on the last 2 MU coaching vacancies and why no other D1 school has shown interest. I wouldn't even have him as my backup backup backup backup option.
When MU announced the BoC meeting a lot of people assumed MU already had an agreement in principle with a coach (a fair assumption). Since that point Anderson texted Gabe that he was not offered the job. I think we can rule him out.
As far as the remaining candidates I think most people have GM as their #1 choice. If he is taking the job I would think there would be a leak before Monday. I'm sure he would tell his ~10 players that he is leaving before the news hits the media and there would be a leak from one of the players before that time. He also signed a recruit today which makes me think he will not be our next coach. On the other hand, Haith signed Painter shortly before moving to Tulsa. These coaches work until the contract is actually signed, so I'm not sure how much we can read into that.
The lack of leaks make me think it is Howland. Since he is out of coaching there is no players he would need to tell that he is leaving for another program.
My preference after GM would actually be Floyd then Howland, but I think Floyd was ruled out by one of the beat writers. I like how Alden seems to be looking for a Gary Pinkel type. Someone that shows loyalty, can coach and will be at the helm of the program for a long time. That is why I don't think he prefers the ~60+ year old coaches, but I think he will have to settle on one of them if GM does not take the job because none of the other coaches in their 40's are a sure bet. Alden is on the hot seat a bit after his last 3 hires and can't afford a risky pick here. That is why, if I had to guess, Alden's board has GM #1 and Howland #2.
Full disclosure, I have no idea who the MU coach is going to be. I think MU has handled this coaching search very well. They learned from their past mistakes (see Painter and Gov. Nixon) and kept everything tight lipped.
I'm excited for Monday.

I wonder if Mizzou had Marshall targeted for next year, Haith kind of felt the vibe, and bolted a year before Mizzou wanted to get rid of him.
Check out the "Weird Twitter Convo" thread here on thd Mizzou board. This was from before even the Tulsa stuff was coming out on Haith.

He just won the D2 National championship, by all accounts he's a great basketball mind. His issues revolve around recruiting and the ability to lure kids to play for him/not having established inroads to any D1 areas.
Haith is in no way a better coach than Anderson though.

I don't claim to know who the better coach is. I don't have the first hand knowledge to say coach x is better than coach y. All I stated was I would rather have Haith over Anderson.
The only thing I know for certain is that people with 100x more knowledge than me (athletic directors) have given all kinds of opportunities to Frank Haith and not even a sniff at Kim Anderson.

Fully erect:
Marshall
3/4 erect:

1/2 erect or is it 1/2 limp (Like what I see, I think):

Mack
Miller
1/4 erect (enough to get my attention but not excite me):
Anderson
Fuller
Limp(does absolutely nothing for me):
Underwood
Pitino Jr.
Painter

It would be wise to make sure your nut cups are firmly in place on Monday.
The melt will be epic.

You're not coming back to tell us if we'll be happy or very happy. Instead it's time for nut cups.

Cup stays off, it worked for football.

My cup is off.
If we hire some Dick Gregory shite or Underwood, then I simply watch less basketball than I did with the Haith debacle.

We need to start approaching shite a little more positively as Mizzou fans.
you can't when nothing positive ever happens and if it does its immediately followed by a negative. This school can never be trusted, even for a second.

Someone noted that Haith was hired in part because of the coaching tree he was from. Is this a similar situation? A bad piece of fruit on a good tree?

It's a self fulfilling prophecy. Bad shite happens because we expect it to happen. Even when shite goes right we see it in retrospect as being negative.
Every person on this board, myself included, was waiting for the other shoe to drop during football season. Before you know it, division champs.
There's no real honor in being the person that wears sticking through all the bad stuff as a badge of pride. The idea of a long suffering fanbase is only attractive and cool to people in that fanbase. I say that as a big fan of the Cubs. It's dumb, it's pointless, and it's self destructive.
Good shite will happen, it has happened, and it will continue happening as long as we expect it to happen. Hell, if the move to the SEC after the nut kick of the Big Ten has shown us anything, it's that. Last football season is just more evidence. All of Alden's major hires have been great except for one, and that dude won Coach of the Year. I expect that trend to continue.
I am officially a Posit-ouri.

I know I will be rather pissy if it isn't Marshall or Howland.
