I won't disagree with you.
I'm just saying that the guy who is filling this position right now's worst hire in his tenure wound up being National Coach of the Year.
We need to start approaching shite a little more positively as Mizzou fans.

Maybe it was alot to do with players not listing to him too. Think he wasnt a great coach anyway but players doing what they want has alot to do with it.

I would be happy with either too. Haith benefited from chemistry his first two years and didnt really have to do much coaching. Mizzou has to do a better job with recruiting players with better makeup IMO. Need a fresh start and cannot wait! If its Anderson Im gonna be really pissed.

Agreed. It's just hard sometimes when I always have to keep my cup close by cause a nut kick is almost always right around the corner.

It would be really nice if we could keep Fuller on the staff too. At least JW3 is staying which I am excited for.

If Fuller stays I think I'd actually be cool with Anderson, if we can't have Howland or Marshall.

Think fuller will be a good coach one day and would love for him to stay on our staff. Better chance at keeping Wright and Gant probably.

Man this might not be a popular opinion, but in my mind those guys either want to be Tigers or they don't. Give me guys who want to be Tigers and will give it all they got for the name on the front of their jersey.

Lol man Kilgore got in those shocker fans heads.

Yeah I get that too man. just dont see pass him over that many times but know hes the right man for the job.
I want Howland the more im talking about it, mans gonna be hungry about coaching now since hes been out and maybe a point to prov.

I want Howland, elite coach who has been there before.

Howland has the best shot as far as the big names go. I still think it's going to be someone from the "field".

If Howland's all that, why hasn't someone hired him since he was fired at UCLA?

That's the $2M question.

Well there's a pretty obvious black cloud over him with whatever issues he had there.
It takes a program in a unique situation to go out on a limb for him.
With the move to the SEC, higher expectations with mediocre results, I think we definitely fit the bill of that unique situation.

I would add that of the 4 or 5 high-profile openings, we probably are in the best position financially combined with the best context.
Cal was probably a non-starter cuz Howland burned all his AAU bridges there. Tenner has money problems and was looking for an up and comer/sacrificial lamb. That leaves Wake and Marquette. Howland was apparently a finalist for the Marquette job. Not sure why Wake didn't take a look.

I would say that I wouldn't hire Howland without a full recounting of what happened with regards to 1) Shabazz Muhammad's recruiting and 2) the discipline issues surrounding Reaves and a few other Crip wannabes on the team. And then get some independent verification of it and have Howland give you a decently developed remediation plan where appropriate.

'Unique situation'? Is that code for desperate?

Probably
Or it could just mean unique.
A program that NEEDS to make a big splash higher with a successful coach. Oddly though those are harder to come by than just saying those words.
Therefore they have to go out on a limb and take a risk on a guy who may have questionable baggage to go along with.
Ala frank haith, but only with very very good basketball.
