Were there less deaths when it was illegal? If so, then it seems it worked.

Or using that logic, if gun crimes escalate in banned areas.. then all guns should be unbanned. Hmmm.. Chicago has pretty rough gun crime.. high ban rates... time to give everyone automatics.
