I think that's a fair statement.
Everyone purchases her/his Aggie Ring; everyone wears it/doesn't take it off.

Good one.

Citadel ring is a big thing.
Damn straight.. Same with West Point and VMI.
Our ring has cannons and rifles on it. Therefore, it kicks arse.

Correct, West Point rings are a HUGE DEAL. It is like getting stripes.

You probably don't understand or appreciate "Honor, Duty, Country" either.

Yall wouldn't understand because in graduating from your respective universities there isn't much to be proud of.

Didn't get one myself, but have no issues with those who did...

Or maybe the rest of us aren't trying to compensate for something.

I'm not trying to compensate. Swear it.
My ring is a daily reminder of who I am, from where I came, and what my university gave to me.
It's who I am.
I do, however, find it kinda odd that some folks are bothered by what another school's students and alumni choose to do.

Ours is a tradition because of the senior military college history. We still send tons of people to the armed services every year. The same military history is why we are cult like. The orginized cuts for bonfire, silver taps, muster and things like the aggie ring. They all tie in to being one big extended family. I cant begin to tell you how many opportunities it has opened for me. We all kind of pay it forward and help each other out all the time.

Most of the ones I see for "college" are usually from service academies. I have a friend who wears his UK ring and he's pretty diehard. Outside of that I've probably seen more athletic based rings (i.e. Bowl rings) than actually class rings.
I also don't know of any women who wear class rings.

I thought about getting one for LSU New Orleans for medical school, but not for undergrad. I might buy a med school ring after I finish residency.

So very true about that one big extended family. Military or not, Aggie alums look out for one another!

I for one am glad that Aggies where Aggie Rings as they serve as a reminder to me. If I see a guy wearing one, it reminds me not to bend over around him or make any sheep sounds.

Speaking of crazy Aggie traditions, I was at a wedding for my buddy (LSU grad) and his fiance (Aggy Grad) and at the reception the Aggies all locked arms in a circle and did the Aggie War Hymn. All the LSU people were like WTF.
