We gonna run a loooooot of slants.. and hooks to the TEs this year
If we can utilize TEs on 3rd down we'll be more than fine this season. I'm expecting 10 wins with an outside chance at 11.

As long as JH is in rotation...LF will not start ahead of him

From what you saw, could you truly imagine the 2015 defense being close to the 2011 defense's level?
You didn't mention special teams, but if we're to trust what you posted, it appears that LSU might be up for a 2011-like season minus the amazing schedule.
Why does LSU make it to the national championship every 4 years? 2003, 2007, 2011, and potentially in 2015.

LSU will have the best defensive backfield in the SEC in 2014 & 2015.
You'll have to take that title from Florida, and I won't believe it until I see it on the field and in the stats.

First it was the Auburn posters boasting about their O-line. Now you've come. This is an LSU thread. Outside opinions regarding LSU are welcome but individuals shouldn't make their posts or this thread about their team if it isn't LSU.

If the secondary isn't the best, they'll be damn close. Same with the LB's. Same with DE's. DT is the only position on the defense that could possibly cause me concern. And right now, my reasons for concern are very small.
Looks like a banner year on defense.

What you stated has been the case for Les Miles's LSU in every season but 2008. Come on now. Everyone here knows where LSU stands.

Going for a fifth straight year of ten wins plus?
Yeah baby!

There's little need to be worried about a game that's 7 months away. Last year's results don't necessarily have a huge influence on this year's. Following your reasoning though, I can see cause for concern. 2013 Alabama defeated a more veteran, explosive offense to the tune of 38-17. According to this thread, the LSU defense is looking much better. LSU's offense has taken a step back. It remains to be seen how Alabama's offense and defense will shake out.

No, the problem was that Alabama ran into two teams that were better than them; Auburn and Oklahoma.
So 1 day proves everything eh?
By your logic, I suppose 2013 Ole Miss was a better team than LSU. 2011 Iowa State was a better team than Oklahoma State.

Except I don't think it has. LSU has rarely scored 42 points in a spring game. And that without some guys who will be key contributors come fall.

Aren't spring games scripted?

Do you believe Alabama was better than Auburn in 2013? Oklahoma?

That's an excellent point. I just wanted to note the remarkable job that Muschamp has done on the defensive side of the ball the past 2 seasons. When healthy, Florida has boasted the best defensive secondary and overall defense the past 2 seasons.

Every year. Doesn't change what I said.

The night of the game? Definitely not.
Over the course of the season? Debatable.
I don't have a definitive answer to your question.
I can admit that Auburn was likely a better coached team last season, for sure. On the other hand, Oklahoma got blown out by Texas and Baylor. You don't coach a team to score off of 4 turnovers. Oklahoma outplayed Alabama in the Sugar Bowl, but outplaying a team in 1 game doesn't make you the better team.

I feel that Alabama started the season better than Auburn, but after Auburn got going, then won the Iron Bowl, they were undoubtably the better team. I also feel that Oklahoma was inferior to Alabama the majority of the season, and simply found a way to beat them after watching Auburn's method to madness.
In short, Auburn was better than Alabama, but Alabama was better than Oklahoma.

Isn't it amazing how Alabama and Auburn fans turn any thread into a back and forth between them?

I really could. Looking at our defensive roster right now, I see 2-3 guys possible to go pro which is light years better than the 8 players gone we've been dealing with the last 2-3 years. We may lose Danielle Hunter, Kwon (50/50 depending on this season), Jalen Mills (this is his first year at FS so I doubt it) and Rasco will graduate. Even if these guys do leave we're going to have a shitload of solid depth behind them. So with that said, 2015 is going to have a damn strong LB crop, a ridiculous secondary if Jalen Mills stay with Tre White, Rashard Robinson, Rickey Jefferson, and then throw in the hands down #1 CB in this coming class in Kevin Toliver, it's just going to be a wrecking crew back there. If one spot could take a hit it would be the DL losing DEs Hunter and Rasco and Hunter would be a big loss but he could stay. We've got quality depth behind even with those guys leaving with Lewis Neal and Tashawn Bower (whom I forgot to mention in my OP, but looks really good as a sophomore).
TL,DR: Yes, we should be loaded and a 2011-like defense should be within the scope of reality, especially with how crazy good the secondary will be.
