Butler has hit 30 in a season
-Gordon is now a sure bet for 20 every season
-Salvador Perez is only 23 and hit 13 last season and his power should continue to develop
-Hosmer had one HR at the June 1 mark last season, and finished with 18 HR's
-Moustakas is going to breakout this season, and has already hit 20 HR's in his first season but his numbers this spring suggest a much better approach he hit 4HR's but what was encouraging was he had more BB's than strikeouts

Gordon 20 HR 633 AB
Hosmer 17 HR 623 AB
Butler 15 HR 582 AB
Perez 13 HR 496 AB
Moustakas 12 HR 472 AB

I dont know, thats a troubling trend. Perez has some good upside but the longer Hosmer and Moustakas play in the league without increasing the power numbers the more alarming that becomes to me. Also the lack of only ONE of them hitting more than 30 doubles last year stands out.

If Perez's bat continues to mature as a big leaguer and Moustakas and Hosmer start living up to their potential then KC has a very nice lineup but Gordon and Butler have both regressed substantially last season offensively.

I understand why the Myers/Shields trade was made but the Royals may have just dealt the best one out of the Perez/Hosmer/Moustakas/Myers pod of top prospects.

Here's what we have going for us. Moose played winter ball and our hitting coach, Pedro Grafol, was his manager. Supposedly they spent the winter tweaking his swing and it's paying off. We will see how this works soon, but his career pretty much rides on this season really. I think Moose will improve this year.

Also, we have a legit leadoff hitter this year which slides Gordon down to 5th behind billy, giving butler protection in the lineup he's never had. I predict better things for Billy and Gordon to stay about the same.
