you just enforce the rule against flopping & protect the safety of players. by having any player who is too injured to leave the field on his own power stay out of the game several minutes to be evaluated properly by medical staff you accomplish both goals.
This is what is confusing. You say here there is a rule that allows you to force a injured player out for several minutes rather than one play, and later you say the penalty falls under the unfair acts rules. Is there something in that section thay allows a ref to hold a player out for a certain amount of time or is a yardage penalty assesed?

Well, we're talking about player safety, right? .. maybe if a player is injured he should sit out for the rest of the series.

The HUNH works within the rules
HUNH came about because of the change to the play clock in 2008. 2008 rule clock change The Hurry Up offense has been around a long time. The NH part came about because of the rule change. Unethical coaches have used it to prevent substitutions. It came about because of a rule change. IMO, having players flop to stop the clock is unethical, but it is within the rules, so use it to your advantage. Some will want to have a rule to stop it, but they're just wussies.

The NH part came about because of the rule change.
You realize the man who wrote the book on the HUNH did it well before 2008, right?
And this man already had the #1 offense in the country prior to this clock change?

Unethical coaches have used it to prevent substitutions.

Doesn't matter when he wrote the book, the clock rule changes in 2008 changed everything. They're taking advantage of a rule. Defensive teams need to take advantage of the "flop". Whatever players were going to be substituted, one of them needs to flop and sit out for a play, which they were going to do anyway. People will argue for a rule change, and it will be changed back to pre-2008 rules.

Doesn't matter when he wrote the book,
Obviously not. You know, since the HUNH philosophy was already established.

the clock rule changes in 2008 changed everything.
Here, I'll copy and paste it for you.

If that's the best your defensive coaches can come up with, by all means flop away.
One other possibility..... maybe they could attend one of Auburn's coaching clinics.

I sincerely hope Alabama does this next year....I truly do. The NCAA and the SEC will be knocking on Saban's door; it will be epic.

I don't care when he wrote the book, the game changed because of a 2008 rule change.

He was OC for a Toledo team that ranked first in yards in 2007.

Missouri ran the most plays in 2007

Why are you skirting the question? It's simple. Tell me what team led the entire country in yards per game on offense.
ETA: It's the same team that ran the most plays. 1126 plays in 14 games.
ETA2: Missouri ran the HUNH in 2007. What was their NCAA ranking in total offense?

Tulsa ran more plays than Mizzou in 07. In 07, 13 teams ran >1000 plays....in 08, when the clock change occured, it was only 5 teams that ran more than 1,000 plays for the year.
Keep embarrassing yourself.

Quick question, what's the "rule" they are taking advantage of?

I'm not against running any offense, but this style of play is about taking advantage of a rule change in 2008, and the people that like that Offense are squawking because other teams want the rules changed so it can't be taken advantage of like is now. Simple enough.
