They both should be gone unless one of them wins the SEC tournament Dennis Felton style.
Barbee will get another year unless we lose very badly in the first game, like embarrassed bad.
He will under the radar this year because of the football success.

Gottfried hadn't even made the NIT for a couple of seasons when he was rightfully fired.
He went to a tournament 7 years in a row and then was out 1.5 years and got canned. He probably deserved more than he got from Bama, but he certainly got much less than AG has received.

Well 1.5 is a year more than Grant right now. Gottfried had some other off the court issues though, as somebody mentioned. He spent too much time on sorority row.

And he is a giant dick so it was appropriate

Hopefully Grant will develop a similar problem so we can fire his program ruining arse.

I remember the player's girlfriend rumor, but I'm not sure it was true. He did allegedly have some trysts with some coeds though.
More than that though, he thought he was bigger than the program and was untouchable. He was grade-A jackass, and didn't really have the resume to be one.

Grant will be back
Barbee has had an amazingly bad run at AU, but it looks like he may still get another year. Unlike Bama, AU's team will be even worse next year.

It's a shitty situation to be in as a fan because it's impossible for me to root against us, but I know that every W we get gives Grant just a little more room to breathe.

Luckily we dont have that many Ws.

The fast one he pulled on NC State is pretty funny though. He inherits a talented team his first year, sneaks into the tournament as a double-digit seed, wins a coulee of games and they give him a raise and an extension. Now he's already got that program in the shitter too

True, but save for that Elite 8 run one year he underachieved every time. I think he only made it out of the 1st round one other time, then got blown out in the 2nd round. There was a running joke during that run that anyone that beat Bama in the tourney would see their coach get hired by another SEC school.
I won't deny he was a good coach and for the most part brought in good kids that went to class and stayed out of trouble. He brought us back from the depths of the Hobbs era, but then he just got complacent and thought he was too good to make changes. I was happy to see him go, as were 99% of the other Bama basketball fans I know.

I've always got the impression that Grant at Alabama is laughing all the way to the bank....

I think some of you are reading way too much into the statements made by Battle & Co. before the season is over. He may very well be back, but I don't think it's a done deal.
