ESPN tends to use whatever poll makes their games seem like a bigger deal.
For the UAB game they kept calling them a ranked team all week long even though they were only ranked in the coaches poll.

I believe ESPN policy is to use the Coaches poll until the CFP starts releasing their poll and then they use that. At least that is what they show on the screen (RC is probably right that they speak to whatever for hype's sake).
We were 22 in last week's CFP poll. So that's what they showed on the screen.

I always thought they use the AP poll until the CFP poll

That makes sense. I had assumed it was either AP or coaches

Ok I assumed they were using the AP, my bad didn't realize it was the CFP they used

Could someone shop O and his Gatorade bath on this in place of Bolt and change the signature on the left to hen scratch?

SIAP, but I didn't see it.

So... dumbass Aggie legislator has no idea where football scholarship money comes from. How is this even possible?

Interestingly, Larson says he is a 1981 graduate of Texas A&M. After this past weekend's game with LSU, he still went forward with the motion.
And here's the funner part:

Larson's bill says that, if either school refuses to play the other, funds for football scholarships would be withheld from that institution.

I just came to post this

After witnessing the birth of a rivalry this past weekend, this idiot wants UT back????

I sincerely doubt that idiot watches football.
From San Antonio, btw, so he's to be forgiven for being an idiot. Right, Tbird?

Julian Castro is also from here, to my shame.
I've never even heard of this legislator before and I hate him

This just in from SafetySam, and I can't stop laughing.

We had a metric frick ton of empty seats for a night game between two ranked teams. The result of this game isn't going to make LSU fans want to travel to B/CS any more or less than they always do. It also isn't going to entice our fans to show up in the endzone seats that are constantly empty. Our fans are never going to have a burning hate for LSU the way we have it for Texas. Ever. It's just not going to happen. shite, we didn't sell out Kyle for LSU back in the 80s and 90s either.
I don't want to hear crap about not helping their home schedule either. We are having just as much trouble filling our stadium as they are and we are having that issue in the SEC SEC SEC.
As fun as the LSU game was it still would be 10 times sweeter to beat the sips arse the weekend before they were playing for the Big 12 title.
You guys can deny it all you want but deep down somewhere in the smoldering pit that you swallowed your pride you know it's true.

I, being an outcast among my classmates and here, agree with everything you said. I'd love to have the game back. But not forced down either school's throat by the Texas Legislature. That's insanity.

Not all of the games with sip were complete sellouts either, even with smaller stadiums.
But I agree with you and Finest and am for the game.

Aside from the sheer stupidity of this jackwad's bill, even if it were to pass through the houses and get enacted, I am fairly confident it would be unconstitutional and struck down by the courts.

quote:meh. i didnt grow up with it so obviously im not coming from the same place as yall but i couldnt care less either way in a vacuum. i dont want to play texas. but thats strictly because i never want us to play a single school from the big 12 ever again while the big 12 exists. yes, its petty. but i dont care. once the big 12 dies i will be fine with playing texas and OU

Just wanted to pop in and say wow, I thought we were the only school that was terrible at contract negotiations.
So Auburn writes Gus a big contract last year because they fear Arky is gonna steal him. Now they already want to fire him after a mediocre season this year, but don’t want to pay the 32 million, so they’re talking with him to reduce the buyout and other aspects of the contract in exchange for letting him coach another year?
He’s a damn fool, I’d make auburn pay the whole buyout right now and walk with my money. You know they’ll pull an LSU like with Les Miles and look for the first opportunity to fire him the minute they lose a couple games mid season. And they’ll get negatively recruited by every other school out there talking about how uncertain Malzahn’s future is, so he probably won’t be able to sign a great recruiting class.
What a clusterfu**
