Was born a Crimson Tide fan by the grace of God.

I can remember listening to Bama games on the radio with my dad back in the 70's when only a hand full of games were televised.

I was even luckier when I married the girl of my dreams and she loves UA, T-Town, and Bama just as much as I do.

I love everything about the UA and Bama tradition.

On game days when I close the SUV door and turn the key over and start driving down Hwy.82 headed to T-Town I still get excited and feel like a kid at Christmas.

When The Walk of Champions takes place I start getting chills down my arms. When I walk through the entrance way to my seats and see the inside of BDS there's a feeling that I cannot describe and I know at that time that I am truly in heaven.

This is why I love with all my heart the Alabama Crimson Tide.

ETA: Another good documentary is "Against The Tide" and it tells about some of the Bama football tradition also the book "Rammer Jammer, Yellow Hammer" is a good book to read.

I don't know anyone who says roll bama roll. Rammer jammer the fight song and roll tide should get you through a game day. Roll tide can be used in just about any situation
-I can't really think of anything that people call us like boogs which are aubs or corn dogs are lsu that upset me. People call us gumps and use it as a verb as well but that doesn't offend me. The biggest thing I've experienced is just people make jokes about bear. Call him a drunk or this and that...

I don't quite understand this insult, either. Sure, Forrest was not the most intelligent man, but his character (whether from the book or movie) accomplished more than just about any person, ever.

What do Alabama fans and maggots have in common? They can feed on the same dead bear for thirty years.

Funny how that joke disappeared after Saban got here.

Anyways... to the OP:

I've been an Alabama fan my entire life. My dad went here, and I grew up in Tuscaloosa. I graduated for Paul W. Bryant High School and since then I've gotten and undergrad and master's degree while working towards a Ph.D.

My dad forced my four year old self to watch the 92 national championship game with him, but I didn't really start following and understanding what was going on until the 96 or 97 season. With the exception of a the 99 season those were some really tough times to be an Alabama fan.

Fortunately though, Saban came in my sophomore year of college and a year later started one of, if not THE, greatest run in Alabama football history, a truly remarkable feat. There's so much history to the program as other posters have indicated, so read/watch as much stuff on the history of the program as you can.

As far as things to say... Roll Tide is the main one, and the ESPN commercial from a few years ago was more accurate than people from out of town would imagine. The fight song is always good to know, and the Rammer Jammer cheer that happens after beating an opponent should also be committed to memory. If you ever come to Tuscaloosa, definitely go to the Paul W. Bryant Museum, and be sure to get to the game an hour before kick off to watch the videos that show a lot of the greatest plays in Alabama history.

Also if you come to a game, find a time to get some Ramma Jammas. It's right next to the stadium on the southwest corner. Game day will be too crowded unless you get there super early for breakfast.

I can't say that I was born a Bama fan, but fell in love with them when I was 4 b/c of my Aunt. She and my Uncle were huge fans and took me to several games, made sure I had the best Bama shirts and took me a few times to meet Bear and a few of the players...wish I still had the pictures and signed footballs and helmets...I was a major idiot in my younger years and sold and/or lost some of them.

Major Ogilvie and Jeremiah Castille will probably always be my most favorite Crimson Tiders. Those teams in the 70s were so much fun to watch; the punishers on D, the old Wishbone offenses, the tear-away jerseys, the Iron Bowls at Legion Field, and getting to watch The Bear walk the sideline.

Bama has and will always be known for our "beat you to a pulp" defenses and hard nosed offenses in my mind. I live, breath and die by our punishing defense however. I am very thankful to have been blessed to have seen more than my share of Bama National Championships.

+1

Had b'fast there Wed morning - ham bisbuit/grits/hashbrowns/coffee for less than $5.

The owner (Gary) has GOT to be Nick Saban's twin brother.
