tl;dr What is your take on Alabama's awful record versus good teams in November?
Since 2009, Alabama has compiled a 4-5 record in November against teams that finished the season ranked.
Saban gets a pass for 2007; it was his first year, and he didn't inherit a program in good shape.
2008 Alabama did not face any opponents in November that finished the season ranked.
Chronologically, the 4 wins were against a 9-4 LSU, 9-4 Mississippi State, 10-3 LSU, and a currently 9-3 LSU.
The 5 losses were against an 11-2 LSU, 14-0 Auburn, 13-1 LSU, 11-2 Texas A&M, and a currently 11-1 Auburn.
What do the 4 wins have in common?
The opponent finished the season with 2 or 3 other losses.
What do the 5 losses have in common?
All of them were close, but Alabama always fell short. The opponent finished the season ranked in the Top 10. etc. etc.
During November, Alabama has not defeated an opponent that finished ranked in the Top 10 in the BCS era.You must venture back to 1999 for the last time Alabama beat a team in November that finished the season ranked. That 1999 win came against 10-2 Mississippi State, a team that scraped by several unranked opponents and did not beat a ranked team.

I'm here to confirm your despair...
Bama sucks, the decline is on the way, fire him and send him to Texas

This is why Saban is not the GOAT. He also needed LOTS of help for his last 2 titles.

Is this a schedule thread?

He maybe the GOAT recruiter, but he's an average game day coach.

We beat FCS Top Ten Georgia Southern in 2011. Moral Victory
Florida knows a thing or two about Georgia Southern.

He's close to 50-50 against top teams in major games. I think Saban is slightly overrated (as in, he's an all timer but not God), but he gets to big games and wins them about half the time.
Not sure what else you can really ask for over any stretch of time, in the toughest division in the land.

My take is that one of our Aubies posted a thread about his record vs good Auburn teams. No one from bama took him seriously.
Advice: Start being a little more humble as a fan base and pay attention to other stats every so often. You're welcome...

Any set of stats, when enough filters are applied, can look bad or good. When you start applying all those filters, you start sounding like baseball guys:
He's batting .398 with runners in scoring position and 1 out on a full moon with a batboy named "Kevin"

Here's another way to look at it:
In December and January, since 2009 Alabama is undefeated.
That's wins over 13-1 Florida, 13-1 Texas, 11-2 Mich State, 13-1 LSU, 13-1 Notre Dame, and 12-2 UGA (of which most of the losses all came at the hands of Alabama - only two came to teams not named Alabama).
That's 4 teams that ONLY lost to Alabama.
Like I said - any set of numbers can be manipulated to say what you damn well please.

Not quite sure what you're trying to do here. Has to be a trap of some sort...
Aw frick it, I'll bite.
Congrats on barely losing to a team LSU beat by double digits in the rain. Y'all put up a valiant effort.

These are all outstanding teams.
Instead of just using November, how about we take into consideration games against 12-2 UGA last year, as well as #1 12-0 Florida in 2009? Oh, and how about Texas, Notre Dame, and LSU in the National Championship games.
The fact is, Alabama lost to some REALLY good teams. 2010 Auburn, 2012 Texas A&M, and 2011 LSU were among the best, if not the best, in the country.

I guess A&M doesn't count this year since the game was moved to September.
team must have been from the SECW, ranked, and game played in November? what a stat. add a few more qualifiers and you might whittle it down to zero wins

Please don't tell me you're complaining about Nick Saban. Alabama has won 3 national titles in the last 4 seasons. Holy crap!

It's the toughest division in CFB the last 5-7 years
5 BCS Champs come from the West the last 7 years
Not to surprised really, especially with the grind
I think Bama is 11-2 against top 10 teams lately and this is what wins you Title games. Plus, not losing to inferior teams like a 5-6 Iowa St or even SC losing to a team like Tennesse this year hurts bad. These kind of loses kill your chances for anything. There hasn't been a CFB champ since like 1950 something that's lost to a team with a losing or .500 record. I think some act like they've never watched CFB before or there's a bunch of youngsters here.
