Most people at USC expected that would be the eventual outcome all along, especially as the season went on and some of the higher-ups began to sour on him.
Is Mack Brown "most people" at USC? Because he never misses on a recruit, the staff just loses interest and let the kid know to look elsewhere...
So does this mean Sumlin wasn't pre-approved for a USC HC offer?

Y'all have reset the bar for over paid football coaches.

Ole Gus has gotta be loving life. His team is playing well and his competition is getting PAID. Auburn is going to have to put some shekels on the table at the end of the year. Sucks we are still putting out money to Chiz

Nice, I would make stuff up too if i knew it made my school look dumb.
Also, you should stop comparing Sumlin to any accomplished coach considering Sumlin hasn't won jack shite.

It means he was never even considered the guy they wanted. Why is it that everyone else in the world can accept this, yet A&M people are the only ones who say otherwise? Its what gives ppl fuel to make fun of A&M. You're not USC or any historic program. You never have been. Numbers show it, recent history shows it. DWI.

You can believe your link to a website called rumors and rants or you can believe the multiple reports by respected news professionals that Sumlin was USC's first choice (some of which also claimed that Sumlin was offered). You can believe an article written with a clear agenda, or you can believe common sense that a coach isn't going to get the kind of raise that Sumlin just got unless that coach has real leverage.
But, since you are a butthurt, irrational coonass, I'm sure you will side with rumors and rants over respected reports and common sense.

Why do you care?
And why do you have a Texas Aggies-related signature?
I'm detecting a fair amount of … preoccupation?
Let it go. Another program (e.g., USC) showing interest in TAMU's head coach doesn't in any way lessen the quality of your school's coach and/or your life.

Finally the stupid speculation that the Texas Aggies would allow anyone to outpay us for our f'n Coach is over.
Now the speculation that Sumlin isn't the right man for the job should stop, because if he isn't the Aggies will pay what it takes to get the right Coach.
The Texas A&M Leadership is very serious about having an elite level football program and they have tremendous financial resources to pay for it.

I guess aTm has a really low standard from what they expect from a 4-5 mil per year guy...I mean he really hasn't brought much to aTm yet. You all got trolled by USC...

Yeah...... Our coach turned down USC, NFL, and who knows how many other gigs to stay at OUR top 5 program and we got trolled? Sure we had to put up some money. But, well worth it. You ranter are so furking worried that we are about to tip the sec apple cart over permanently that you grasp at what ever straw you can. ALL rantard predictions about us in the SEC have been wrong.

1) Who did Sumlin "turn down" exactly? Who was he offered by? Did he interview somewhere?
2) What has he done to be considered "so worth it" in your eyes?
3) And top 5 program???

Don't take the bait, LSUdm21.

Only my fellow AGS. You guys hate that I bring sensibility to the rant instead of bootlicking like the rest of you.

1) its pretty obvious that USCw and the Texans are/were hot on him. He went ahead and took this new contract to stop all of the negative "sumlin gone" recruiting. Pretty brilliant IMO.
2). Beat Bama last year, bringing in the countries top recruiting class (depending in what service you follow)
3) massive alumni base, great fans, traditional football school, academically acclaimed, starting construction on the nicest fascilities in the country, and we wipe our asses with hundred dollar bills. I think that places us squarely in the top 5.
