Serious question. If Saban were to leave would y'all promote smart to head coach or would y'all want him to go prove that he is a successful head coach else where and come back sort of like what Malzahn did? I feel like with names recent success that the higher ups wouldn't wanna take a chance on smart.
When you can afford a Super Ferrari P4/5 that costs $5million, why give it to a guy that's never driven alone behind the wheel?

Different circumstances. DuBose was primarily a D-Line coach. He only had one year experience as a coordinator. The AD at the time was weak and caved to idiot fan pressure and hired DuBose when he was NOT ready.
Kirby is ready, but he may not get the job. Also, don't let coordinators being promoted bug you too much. Chip Kelly, Chris Peterson, David Shaw, and Jimbo Fisher are all examples of situations were it CAN work.
That said, Bama will at least explore all options when the time comes in a few years.
