Born and raised in Tuscaloosa. Family moved her from South La before I was born so I didn't catch the LSU bug.
Got two degrees, both daughters and wife went to Bama.

Here in Atlanta, I have encountered somewhere in the number of 15-20 people that went to Auburn...mainly in legal (undergrad, went to Emory or Mercer for law), banking/finance, and construction. I have encountered very few (maybe 3-4) that went to U of Alabama...mainly in small business and legal (undergrad and law).

My brother grew up in the 80s and was a barner cause we were awesome. Then He went to school at Bama so I rooted for them. Decided my soph year in high school I was going to auburn so I became a barner.

Same for me. Both parents and grandparents are AU alums. Season tickets since the 1950's. My first AU game was when I was 2 years old. Also some former AU football and basketball players sprinkled throughout the family including a former All-american and NFL football player most would know by name.
Undergrad and masters from AU for me as well.

Grew up with no family affiliations but knew more Bammers than Auburn fans. Went to Auburn because it is a better school. Became Auburn fan.

Was my experience as well in Atlanta. Few sidewalk gumps, rare grad, lots of AU alum. Two close friends graduated from AU in business then moved to Atl to get their law degree as well.

I'm not taking a side here, but this statement is so stupid.

GGrand father, Grandfather, Grandmother, Father, Mother, step-father, two uncles, two brothers, sister, 19 first cousins, 59 2nd-5th cousins that I know of, and of course moi, all went to Alabama (I must be old fashioned... I cannot call the school "Bama"... it is disrespectfull).
However, I grew up in Gainesville Florida a Gator Fan until I went to Alabama after Vietnam. But even in Gainesville, no one ever liked Auburn and everyone always referred to them as a cow college. NO ONE likes Auburn, anywhere.
After graduating Alabama, I lived for a time in Fairhope Alabama... where I came face to face with the reality in the State of the iron bowl. Even healthy teenage girls take sides early on.
It is ugly out there in the hustings of Alabama, I mean drankin' smash mouth done fall down after beating the hell out of them that has it commin' ugly. About the first time some back woods overall wearing grease ball farmer gets in your face or follows you around yelling insults, your patriotism meter for your school magically pegs out.

A fan of a school who's student body chants STTDB national TV, would seem to be a poor judge of what constitutes anything but the bottom run of "class." But I guess every school has its bad eggs.

but but but... it's what you are SUPPOSED to do isn't it? It is the moral thing to do ... point out the obvious for those from out of state who might not know about that school... it is doing everyone a big favor, because "friends don't let friends go to Auburn."

quote:Thankfully most of the students don't. When I was a student, I was very embarrassed by those that chanted that. You really, really don't want to go down the class road when it comes to people who cheer for each respective school. But you're right when it comes to LSU's and Alabama's trashy chants: LSU's band and the university does everything it can to prevent it from happening. The University of Alabama and its terribly named band go out of their way to encourage it.
A fan of a school who's student body chants STTDB national TV, would seem to be a poor judge of what constitutes anything but the bottom run of "class."
The idea that a higher percentage of Alabama fans are professionals who have an actual affiliation with the university than Auburn fans is laughably absurd.

This is trite and you seem like a simpleton even though you claim to have graduated from U of A.
Don't be upset that Alabama's law school has never really produced anyone of consequence except to inflate the ranks of a ridiculous and over bloated "profession" with more mediocrity. Our Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Veterinary Medicine, and Pharmacy programs have added more value to our society than your "prestigious" law school.
