That thought process is the EXACT reason why the giant that is the Alabama football program was lost in the wilderness after Bear left and passed until Gene Stallings came then was run off
At some point Saban will retire or even leave (doubt it but a damn 70 mil 7 year contract at Tejas is one I'd hope Bama wouldn't try and match because its ridiculous) and Kirby will take over...it is already happening and he will be great, he is the best most well prepared of any coach to be an assistant under Saban IMO

Alright, I'm asking the question.... If KS has interviewed for several jobs, why has he not gotten said jobs? I think he's a great DC!

One day Saban is going to retire or die and these dumbasses will say they told us so. This is old news.

He's gotten offers. He could've had one. I guess he's holding out for the right job.

You think they'd go with a Boom clone instead of a proven head coach?
I just have a hard time seeing them promote from within. Even if Kirby just pulled a Gus and got his feet wet for one year at another school, I think it'd go a long way in soothing any fears about the enormity of the moment being too big for him.

I think there is a reason he hasn't left and absolutely yes he is the most poised even more than a proven HC candidate even a down home guy like Jimbo Fisher, he does waaaay more behind the scenes that gets delegated than people realize
Saban delegates a lot more at Bama than he has at any other stop and its part of the reason he's been so successful at Bama

Ellis Johnson is the obvious successor.

Being extremely selective, wants a job with potential to win. It would take a Clemson or someone like that to get him to leave.

Besides the facts that they both played at UGA and both coached under Saban, Muschamp and Smart are nowhere near the same person.

Bama will lure Jim Harbaugh out of San Francisco

I think he would be a solid hire actually. I have always liked him and he is going to waste in Boise Idaho
